Help Galaxy S6 Battery Issues

Galaxy S6 issues

Guest
Ok I read a lot of reviews with the issues but was not able to find any resolution. Below are my problems:

- Out of the box with default settings I charged my phone to 100%, used about 20 mins lost 10% juice.
- I plugged in the usb charges with default settings the phone was displaying charging however was still losing battery life???
- It has been about 5 days now disabled all I can, cleared cache, dimmed screen and many others, even Bluetooth is off

As of today: I barely used the phone, no phone calls at all, a little facebook maybe 30mins, checked emails, installed 1 application

I currently have 51% after 10hrs 12m.

I have not listened to music, not watched any videos. When I play with the phone I am losing about 1% every 10min.

I am not sure if this is the case with all, or should I go ahead and replace the phone. I would appreciate all the help.

Battery life is affected by many things, including the phone signal (in a weak signal environment the phone will use more power maintaining a connection), what apps you have syncing, screen brightness, with AMOLED screens what it is displaying (black uses no power, white uses a lot). It also takes a few cycles for a new phone to settle down.

You seem to be getting contradictory results here. You say that with less than an hour's use your battery is down to about half after 10 hours (unimpressive, unless you have spent the day in a region with very weak signal or had the phone updating stuff in the background a lot), but also that when you are using it you lose 1% every 10 minutes (which is actually extremely good, unbelievably so unless you have the brightness set very low). So how much time has the screen been on in total, and what has your signal strength been like? You should be able to tell both of those from the power menu, but if you want more information try installing GSam Battery Monitor, let it run for a day after fully charging, then look at the app and let us know what you find.

Yup 1% for 10mins of screen on time is excellent :thumbsupdroid:
(especially with the display your phone is rocking)

Brand new phone and battery, I'd give it a few charge/discharge cycles for the battery to break in. The battery monitor might have to calibrate itself as well.
As with any new phone, you can go through all the settings and apps and disable any background stuff you don't need. Typical default settings have everything under the sun turned on and syncing which will suck the battery down even if you don't touch the phone.

My battery was draining very quickly when I initially purchased the phone. But after about 3 or 4 charge/discharges, the battery is holding pretty well. It lasted 29 hours for me with moderate usage. I was very surprised.

Hmm, I am not experiencing bad battery life, I clean buildings for a living and I am constantly streaming YouTube videos, I also stream Pandora Googleplay music and Pocketcast for my podcasts.. so my internet connection on LTE is always going for like at least 5 to 6 hours straight, I have tmo as my carrier. With a 100% charge before I leave for work, by the end of the night I have about 65% left which is a lot better then what I would have thought, also I am turning the screen on a ton because im constantly responding to text messages and when I have a little break ill watch a youtube video or read the news with the 4 different news apps I cycle through while on break. I use my phone a lot, I had a nexus 6 with a bigger battery and I would have about 75% left at the end of the night.. so yeah I got a little more from a bigger phone and bigger battery but 65% isnt bad either. The battery is sufficient enough for me but im not taking a bunch of pictures all day long so maybe that's is the issue not sure. and I have seen reviews online of people getting 8 to 10 hours or more of on screen time with 50% brightness and no higher... your getting terrible battery life I don't know what your doing wrong but its definitely weird. I did a few things though to help battery life, like disabled wifi called disabled wifi lookup also so its not constantly telling me if wifi connection is available, I also disabled tmobile software that tries to run in background, uninstalled it and disabled it in apps, I also made my high accuracy to battery saving on the connection setup, I also disabled Svoice totally in the applications.

My fone is draining 1 percent every 3 minutes this is with syncing off and just web browsing
1% every 3 minutes is still 300 minutes total = 5 hours screen on time. If that is using mobile data for browsing then I'd say that sounds within a believable range.

But really, estimates of rates of decrease over a short period don't tell us much - they are subject to fluctuations and to the battery meter possibly not being linear. So you get a better idea if you look at the total time and total screen on time over a whole charge cycle. Tell us that (and what your screen brightness and mobile signal strength are like) and others will be able to compare notes with you and say better whether there is a problem.

That's on WiFi with screen brightness around 15 percent and only browsing the Web and aeroplane mode on a 45min YouTube video drains around 10 percent
