Help Galaxy SII problems

Marvel901

Newbie
Hi,
I am new to andoid and this is my first smart phone. Since I got it 2 days ago I have been tearing my hair out trying to get it to do what it says it will do.
Current annoyance is with the ability to take a video and show it on my Sony Bravia DNLA equipped TV. You can (apparently) do this in 3 ways.
a, get a micro USB to HDMI lead and connect. Cant try this out as such a lead is currently rare or non-existent in the UK.
b, via DNLA using the Samsung 'allshare' function... so I take a video, go to 'allshare', select the video, phone recognises Sony Bravia TV, select that, phone buffers video and comse up 'error cannot play'
c. Do it via the TV then by selecting the phone in the TV menu, go to pictures... it shows the picture no problem, go to video, it says there are no videos to play

Any clues out there?
Thanks in advance
Ian

sony bravia tv's have very limited functionality when it comes to video files it can play.
i think it's limited to avi mpg and 1 or 2 others.

my guess is the file is recorded in a format which is not compatible with the sony tv.
of course if you had a samsung tv, you'd be ok.

i have a bravia tv also and i can work around this through my PS3 which has a better functionality with the file types it can play.

this is what my tv's manual says about playing video's over the network.
Video: The following file formats stored on the
sever: AVCHD, HDV, MPEG2-PS (which in some
cases may not be able to be played)

as i said, i use the PS3 to stream now.

Try updating the tv's firmware. Download via pc, copy to usb stick, plug into tv. It may help, but as others have said, I use a ps3 to stream onto the tv from my NAS.

when you want to watch your galaxy s 2 recorded videos(3gp or mp4 format) on Sony Bravia DNLA equipped TV, you need to ensure your TV can play the video format. if not, you can search in google.

i often playback some dvd movies on my tv via nas server.
