Root Galaxy/Stock android on behold 2 - It flies!

Just flashed... Love it! Awesome work... love the speed and so far everything works great, except for the vibration... THanks Kam

I keep checking this thread like every hour waiting to see if there are updates! lol. i am sooooo anxious for everything to work. For the camera app to be the stock behold 2 software. For vibrate to work! AHHH! I want it now!

Lmao I hear you all the way! I do the same thing.

The 30 second demo of Diner Dash 2 is gone. Noooo! How could you do this to me?! My phone is super speedy but what will I do with it now? May as well be a brick without precious Diner Dash 2 Demo.

Hehe. Excellent work.

Hello all, i too am waiting for the few bugs to be kinked out before i do this , but i want someone that has done it to verify something with the battery . After you fully charge it , and are running the Galaxy/Stock Mod. Wen the battery is fully charged and you take it off the charger, does it drop like 5 percent withing the first 2 minutes ??? it does that on the stock behold 2 but i wanna see if this fixes that problem. Thank you.

It continues to do the quick drop to 95% for me.

Yeah i second the noob guide request :)

Guys, if you can't follow these directions, I suggest not doing this or risk an unusable phone. I haven't tried myself yet, but a bit a googling and forum searching should explain what things like odin & adb are.

I would suggest for anyone who hasn't tried this yet because they're afraid or because you're waiting for 2.0+ to go ahead and do it... The speed is just ridiculous. There is no more 1 or 2 second delay to open messages, apps, videos, etc. Literally no delay and i'm not exaggerating.

As long as you have ADB setup then there is no risk in doing this... all it modifies is the /system folder (which is the OS) your BOOT partition stays the way it is so if you screw up you can always flash back your original software.
There is no chance of bricking your phone.

I have no issues what so ever with the new firmware. Speed is incredible and everything works. The 1 thing that doesn't work is Vibration. Everything else is fine. I even noticed a speed improvement when downloading/installing apps from the market.

Here is a guide to getting ADB to work: MyHangoutOnline - Tutorials, Downloads, Roms and More.
Here are the Behold II drivers for Windows (not necessary for linux, mac): MyHangoutOnline - Tutorials, Downloads, Roms and More.

Once you have that setup just open a command prompt window (plug in your phone to computer) and type: adb devices

If you're device is listed then you're ready to go!

Follow the instructions on the first post and you'll be good to go. The only thing i recommend is, do a FACTORY RESET BEFORE AND AFTER the instructions.

I did this last night it is incredibly fast, Thanks for everyone who makes out lives a lot easier. One quick question I was trying to set my ring tones and was wondering if you are bound to stock RT's?

No, you can use custom ringtones... just place the MP3 on your sdcard inside the media (or audio) folder... inside that there's a ringtones folder i believe

Found it awesome thanks, My first Android experience is only via touch wiz still learning quite a bit

Touchwiz IS good for first time android users... but I come from the G1 Cyanogen family so TouchWiz just blows balls for me. lol. Complete system Hog and i'm so glad it's now gone.

Im working on trying to get the drivers from the source, mix it in with android 2.0 from the SDK and throwing it on the behold... hope it works :P

hey i am not a complete noob, i dint read up on anything yet. now hearing what you say im sure i can do it if read up on it. However i am undecided whether to jump ship or not, with the anticipated official release and the minor bugs.

This issue right now is with the RILD library and converting messages from the OS level to the modem and back... until that is resolved, you won't have anything other than a pda.

Anyone interested in assisting with this project join us in #behold2 and #i7500 on freenode.

For those who dont know what rild and the associated problem is:

Though Samsung has released the kernel source for this phone, so wouldn't that help with the rild problem?

They didn't release the entire code. Their RILD implementation is way down at the baseband level and I'd assume it's shared by many of their phones, not just android based ones... so it's proprietary and they're keeping it under wraps.

Ahh, so I guess it back to waiting for the official update which would probably contain a binary driver or some other black box device for the rild.
