Help Galaxy Tab 2 7" Video Question

sking1973

Lurker
I have been trying for 3 days to get some movies for my Daughter on to her Galaxy Tab. I have tried at least 4 different encoders, AnyVideo, Miro, MediaCoder, Handbrake, and have not gotten an MP4 file that will playback with any app. I have one file that I converted for my Wife's Nook awhile back that will play. It's an mp4 and for whatever reason it's the only movie I've been able to drop onto my SD card and have it playback.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've always had good luck with:

SUPER &copy | Video Converter Encoder Recorder Player

I'm familiar with Super. I downloaded it for another project awhile back.

Do you have a set of settings that works better than another that you can share?

YMMV.

Video size: No change
Frame/sec: 30
Video Bitrate kbps: 1008
Sampling freq: 22050
Channels: 2
Audio Bitrate kbps: 96
Encode: DX50

This has been really frustrating. I have ONE movie that will work which I encoded a few weeks ago for my Wife's Nook. I encoded a couple of others at the same same time and they WON'T work. Here are the stats on the one working file:

mp4 Video
720x352
Data Rate: 853kpbs
Total Bitrate: 981kbps
Frame Rate: 23 f/s

Audio
127kbps
Stereo
Sample Rate: 48khz

These are DVD rips and 720x480 widescreen mpeg files. I tried Super with no luck. On the version on Handbrake I have for Windows 7, the two Android presets I have are Android Medium and Android High.

As this is my 4 year old's tablet, I'm not super worried about high great the movies look as long as they are viewable for her. By the way, the one working movie I have looks GREAT!

I FINALLY figured out the problem. It wasn't my mp4's, but my microSD card! I purchased a no-name class 4 32gb card off ebay that for some reason didn't work worth a crap! I loaded a couple of the mp4s I wasn't able to get to work onto a Sandisk class 4 4gb card I had in my phone and they playback perfectly on the Galaxy. I guess I know not to buy a cheap SD card now.

I read something that suggested that we unmount the card before shutting down... so I'll try that for a while and see of it makes any difference
