Galaxy tab has cameras, bluetooth and a micro sd slot. Memory card slot is needed to store music and movies. You will end up wanting a Galaxy tab if you get the kindle and you will regret that decision.

Ohh... kindle fire is such a horrible device . I got it for free and even being a free I was kinda mad at it. I practically never used it except bathroom break(taking a dump).
First off all the browser feels like a beta. Whenever you close the browser and open it again it will open your home page with several tabs you've looked 2 weeks ago. (Don't ask it just does it and nobody knows why)
No apps forget about Play store there is no play store. You have an option to use Amazon store with a few apps
It has no microphone so even if you would like to use some over IP app to talk.. there is Skype however but again it useless with no mic only chat.
Flash is broken it works but poorly

The back is made of somekinda rubber it suppose to help you get abetter grip and it does but for some reason it is impossible to clean.
Overall it feels limited... and sometimes frustrating to use.
Tab 2 for extra an 50 bucks offers a lot I say A Lot more than Kindle.
Now Apple is also an American brand. But they all made in China.. so what's the point?

Awesome answer! I think the microphone itself is convincing enough for the $50. I use skype a lot! Thanks a lot for the great comparison.
I received a Kindle Fire for xmas last year and used it until I got my GT 2. I don't think it is a "horrible" device as Gilmour posted but the KF is more limited than the GT2. It depends what you want to use it for. I used the Dolphin browser on the KF, just like I do on my phone and my GT2 with no issues. It's true that the Amazon app store doesn't have as any many apps as Google Play but it still has quite a few. If you have a phone or other device that can access Google Play, you can install an app there, back it up, then copy the .apk file to the KF.
Many people root their KF so that they can install Google Play.
The mic problem can be solved by getting a mic/headset and plugging it into the jack on the bottom of the KF but Skype still won't work for some reason.

The hardware difference is what won me over. The fact that the GT2 has twice as much RAM (1G vs 512M), expandable storage via SD card slot, cameras, mic, Bluetooth, GPS, etc... made it worth the $50 extra over the KF.

Instead of typing, you can can use your voice in the Galaxy Tab 2. It actually works good. Now, if only I could get swype to work....
Sideloaded Swype and it works perfectly!
