Help Galaxy Tab + DLNA

Has anyone been successful in setting up music/video/photo streaming over DLNA? I am able to see my files on my tab, but when I select them I just get the circular "thinking" symbol for awhile and then it says "cannot display file". No matter what the file is, from .mp3s, to photos, to HD video. File formats that I am sure the tablet will play.

Any help? Am I missing a setting or something?
 
What version of the Galaxy Tab are you using and where are you located?

What device are you trying to connect? Are those devices DLNA compatible?
 
I am using the VZW version of the galaxy tab. I actually have access to two of them. I am able to view content between the two devices, but now my computer shows up on neither one in all share's "server" window.

I have a HP G62 laptop with Windows 7. Everything is up to date. I have every single data streaming item enabled in my player, and all of my network settings checked. I've even been on the phone with Verizon support and Samsung support for about 4 hours now. This is, as you can imagine, eternally frustrating haha.

Any ideas to something I'm missing. I would think it was just the device if I hadn't tried it with 2 of them.

I've scoured the internet for any sort of troubleshooting you can imagine, and it's all basic stuff I've already been over. I've even tried 2 routers now to be sure that wasn't the issue. I'm now using connectify-me in order to be sure that everything is connected, and since the 2 galaxy tabs are sharing on the network put by my laptop, that leads me to believe that the connection is not the problem... but something else.

AllShare (the bundled DNLA client) is a bit disappointing, it crashed 9-times-out-of-10 until I removed practically everything from my shared library. With fewer than 1000-odd files shared it copes just about OK (i.e. doesn't crash). A quick test streaming from my desktop PC to the Tab reveals that it can play:

.avi = plays ok!
.wmv = plays ok!
.mp4 = plays ok!
.mkv = Unsupported file format
.mpg = Unsupported file format (amazingly)
.m2ts = Unsupported file format

The Import feature lets you select and copy files to your local SD card, so I assume you can use that option to play the files that the Galaxy Tab supports but not through AllShare.

+1 on the crashing. Mine crashed after a few minutes into a video everytime.

What avi files did you get working. As you probably know avi is just a container format. Does it play divx codecs for example?

What DLNA server are you using to share the files?
 
I have a galaxy tab and struggled to get videos to play using allshare.

The solution i found was using IMediaShare (free google app) and it easily saw my xbox and streamed videos, music and picture to my Sony Bravia TV.
