Help Galaxy Tab - Unable to edit FWDs in Hotmail

heston208

Lurker
The Samsung Support Team are unable to find a solution to the problem of not being able to edit FWDs sent from my Hotmail account.

Trying to be responsible I always delete the previous addressees but this is not yet possible with Android, at least this was the answer from the nice chap on the end of the phone.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi Gadzooks

Many thanks for the reply - I downloaded K-9 Mail but sadly it does not appear to support 'free' hotmail accounts so I wasn't even able to register my email address!

Uh oh. I haven't found anything saying K-9 doesn't support free Hotmail, but I might be looking in all the wrong places. :-)

Are settings you entered in K-9 same as ones in app you're currently using -- pop, incoming & outgoing servers, ports, ...?

Hi Gadzooks

Thanks for help. It took me a bit of searching to find out the correct server etc settings but I eventually hacked it yesterday!

I upgraded my Hotmail to Hotmail Plus though apart from not showing ads I don't think this had an effect on the forwarding ...

I can now edit fwds with K-9 but need to resort to opening Hotmail through the Browser to manage folders etc. A bit of a long-winded way but at least it works.

With any luck Samsung will soon be able to upgrade their own mail link and save the extra hassle.

Happy New Year to you.

The standard gmail app included on the Tab also allows you to edit before forwarding if you use the respond inline button. As you mentioned, I use it to get rid of the email addresses before sending it on.

Bravo, my pleasure, and a very happy new year to you too!

Synching folders requires that a mail service supports IMAP and as best as I can tell, Hotmail doesn't, either free or paid. As mail client applications, both native Email and K-9 support IMAP, but this configuration only works when IMAP is supported by the mail service too.

I have a 'free' hotmail account and I successfully use K-9 Mail (v3.404) on my Galaxy Tab.
