Galaxy Tab2 10.1 w/ JellyBean - Good Price?

Hi Everyone -

My grandfather is in need of a new computer, and he is trying to decide to get a laptop or a tablet. He found these two adds in the paper. I'm trying to let him know a tablet may be a better way of going, a little less confusing to navigate then a windows 8 machine, but i'm not all too familiar with the android tablets.

He would only be using it for email, light browsing, and maybe some low-resource gaming / video watching. I believe you can plug a mouse and keyboard into this with an adapter - correct?

Is this a good price or should we wait for closer to Christmas sales? Do you think it will get cheaper by then? I'm not sure on when the new releases are due out which can cause price fluctuation.

Also, It seems this model has been out for a while now - are they holding up well?

Been out about a year now and although a few isolated problems I believe that on the hole they are holding up very well.the on board keyboard works just great so try first before spending money on an unnecessary keyboard, and as for the mouse the swiping action on the keyboard is so easy to learn that you will soon learn that a mouse is also unnecessary. They are cheaper, battery lasts longer, and they are lighter. Dont know which country that you are in. But there must be a retailer with a money back trial period! Get one let them try it and I promise you will not regreat it. Ps have changed my name in case you disagree with me?

If you want a mouse and a keyboard, get a keyboard that works with BlueTooth and a wireless mouse. Go to Ebay and get a USB adapter ($4 or so) that goes to the "connector" on the tablet (newer tablet connection is normally Micro USB and tablets like the Tab 2 are 30 pin).

I use a mouse on mine sometimes as the website for the company I work for has a lot of places I have to click on (for scheduling and so forth) that seem to react better with a mouse input than a finger touch, same with some forums I follow.

I use a stylus, because I find a finger is often to big to tap on a link in a program which has multiple links near to one another, the finger often covers 2 links and selects the wrong one. But a stylus is much smaller and therefor much more precise in use, and it is much easier to use the built in keyboard with a stylus.
