Gallery Help Please!

In my gallery on android im getting a grey square and 'no thumbnail' message.

i have tried lots of different software but nothing seems to be working and they wont even show up on my windows 8 laptop yet will show in the live tiles but are not in the 'my pictures' folder

please help :(

Sorry to say but it sounds like that's all folks . .open the card on the computer with the adapter and wait til a pop up ask if you want to repair the card . If this doesn't happen you will see a folder in the dcmi labeled thumbnails . Open this folder and what do you see if all the photos thumbnails show. Post back with results . If no thumbnails its nothing to fix nor do . Something wiped your card clean

i agree with brain. however, just because you cant see the thumbs doesnt mean the fils cant be opened. if they cant... the sd card may be corrupted.. :/

Tried everything and still nothing :( its actually my partners phone and he has now messed it up completely after trying to root it. Cannot get into recovery either

You are seeing thumbnails that are in a different place than the DCIM file.
I had to hunt for thumbnails of pics I deleted from Picasa to get rid of them.

If it is just the thumbs, they will be very small and very low res.

There is software that can sometimes get pics off or a recovery service. Photography fora should have info on both. One you need to learn to use, and the other is probably expensive.

although it says the images are recovered they're still grey images rather than the picture

Recuva recovers files to another volume/drive so that it doesn't overwrite data on the memory card. The ideal scenario is, once you've recovered all possible files from the card, to reformat it in the phone then copy the recovered files back. The next time the media is scanned, usually at startup, the Gallery thumbnails should rebuild correctly.

Can't the OP do that with a different card just in case? Reformat a new blank card and put the images on it?

Would be safer.
