Help gallery not opening while adding attachments

I'm in email, ask to add an attachment, select Gallery for source, screen then shows Gallery icon on upper left, but folders never load (nothing does beyond icon for Gallery and it's accompanying cancel tab on upper right.

Going to gallery first, selecting image, can email fine. As Gallery loads fine when selected first.

Suggestions?
