Gallery pics do not rotate

My pics in gallery do not rotate 90 degrees when I turn my phone. I have the HTC Inspire 4G. My friend has one and hers will rotate when the phone is turned. HELP....

Do you have auto rotate turned on in the phone settings?

From the home screen: menu-settings - display-auto rotate checked
