You have to follow their rusty lake wiki, also youtube, the lore is enough to make you question about the families.

BTW there is a guide to go through every one, you can find them on the Cube Escape collection, start from left to right, and go to the second row, finish all the games, and it will last you forever trying to solve them, do not complain on how "Short" the games are, or how lost you can be.. Besides there is discord chat to help you out as well.
