Gaming Mice

I use a... "Forest firedrake Game mouse", "Gmaes Way Fully Controlled By You". "Made in China". Can play Solitaire and Minesweeper really well.

I'm sad to report a death in the family. The cherished and and much loved Forest firedrake Game mouse passed away peacefully during the night, after a long, happy and productive life of five months. It no longer lights up and nor does it move the Mahjong tiles around the screen.

So I've gone back to using the tried, trusted and more robust "方正集团" mouse that came with the school Pentium 4, Windows XP desktop computer, with my laptops. And I can't be bothered to spend the 30 RMB(equivalent $5) on another "Forest firedrake".

Wish I had seen this when it was new. I have had nothing but problems from Razer mice, a death adder, and two copper heads and their customer service was some of the worst I have dealt with.

I'm using a Cyborg RAT 7 and love it. The adjustability was the big seller for me since my mitts are huge.:D

7 is wired, 9 wireless. I stuck with wired because of latency issues, I know a lot of people who have tried the best of the best of the wireless mice and they all go back to wired.

Saw a real ugly gaming mouse in the supermarket this afternoon...

Meet the Jizz mouse..

I'll proxy if anyone wants one.

After you've gamed with a Jizz, you'll never want to use a Razer or a Logitech ever again....honest.

Looking at the review for the G500s, it's just a better laser sensor and a different body. Still got the sensor positioned high up?

Dunno. I personally use a Logitech Performance MX, which is definitely no gaming mouse. Apparently the latency is ~8ms, but I dont notice it. I'm generally pretty happy with it. But I wonder if I would have been a better Mass Effect 3 sniper with a G700s though :D

Personally I just prefer wireless, but it's nice to see there are a few wireless mice out there nowadays that have overcome the latency (such as the G700, G700s, and some Razer mice I think).

The Razer Naga is really nice if you're into MMOs. Played most of Diablo 3 with one hand thanks to it. It takes a bit to get used to, but way easier than using two key combinations for spells.

The mouse is a bit awkward at first, but you get used to it pretty quick. Even for daily use outside of games it is fine. It has a switch so you can switch the side buttons from the normal 0-9 and the NumPad 0-9. I do wish it had an option to completely disable the side buttons though, sometimes while playing FPS games I'll accidentally hit the side buttons and switch my weapons.

Anyone have thoughts on mouse mats/gaming surfaces? Thinking to get a cheap cloth one, but some people have told me a hard one is better - but is it worth

Ozone Gaming Gear Ground Level XT Gaming Mouse Pad: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

I picked up that about 2 years ago and it's still serving me well. It's quite big, but other than that I've no real complaints.

That Ozone is similar in price to the one I use - the Razer Sphex

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Razer-Sphex-Gaming-Mouse-Mat/dp/B002GQSIWI

It's a hard gaming surface that doesn't have a spongy base. You actually stick it to the surface of your table/desk. I really like it because I can stick books/papers on it and it doesn't get in the way or move around because it's basically part of the table. You can always remove it and reuse it apparently and it doesn't lose its stickiness.

Anyone?

Anything else on hard vs soft mats too? The description doesn't really say the Goliath is a hard mat so is my best chose the Sphrex then?

Anything else on hard vs soft mats too?

It depends on (a) your gaming style, (b) your mouse, and (c) personal preference.

Speed mats are generally assumed to be favoured by "twitch" gamers but I find my Destructor fine for precise photo work - I just dial the tracking sensitivity (dpi) right back and bump up the polling rate. My mouse tracks very accurately and has Teflon-coated feet, both of which which are ideal for the mat.

The Goliathus has a fabric 'control' surface, whereas 'hard' or 'speed' surfaces are smooth. The Sphex sounds like an oversized screen protector that sticks to your desktop, so it's probably closer to the latter than the former.

Does noob count as a gaming style? :-P
I'm new to mouse mats so I don't really know my preferences...or whether I need speed or control.. But control would probably be nice :-D

Edit : anyone had experience with the steel series 4hd?
