Newbie
Hello

I'm new to the smart phone scene. I've been looking through the market to find games that i would like and found a few that i would really like to play but have had no luck getting them to work on the Avail. I would have thought if I could see it in the store it would work on my phone. For example Gun Bros and Shodowgun just don't seem to play on this thing. Am I doing something wrong? Would rooting help me in this? will I ever be able to play Shadowgun or nova on this thing?

Thanks for the help

Think of it like a computer. You wouldn't have purchased an old Intel Celeron computer to play games on. These phones are far less powerful than the phones available either with contract or for $600.

You're just not going to get Ferrari performance out of a stock Ford Fiesta....

This seems to be the case. Thanks for your help.

Some basic games work like space bubbles worked for 60+ levels until had to factory reset (nothing to do with the games). But angry birds always freezes or reboots in the middle of the game. Not every time but enough to be annoying. So for 130 dollars I guess its not too powerful.

I have not been able to play Gun Bros, Nova, Shadowgun, or any games of this caliber but have had alot of fun with Nintendo emulators. SNES and lower work fine and roms don't take up that much space. Getting Mupen64 working is different story but after going through the settings i have gotten Marrio64 playing but very choppy. After Rooting and trying some overclocking I've gotten performance and play a little better but not much. I wish there was a way to increase performance more but like others have told me in these forums there's only so much we can do with the Avail. I still am looking for a good first or third person shooter. If anyone knows of a game like this that might play on the Avail please post.

Good Luck!

How did you manage to overclock the Avail? Or did you use anthony's ROM?

I used anthony's. I've given up on Mupen64 for now. I can get it to play and with anthony's rom its a little faster but the further I get in the game the more glitches and crashes happen. I'm enjoying SNES emulator for now. Hopefully down the road well see more tweaks that allow the Avail to have more gaming options.

If anyone does try some N64 Emulators and get it to work fairly well please post

I can confirm Dead Space as working flawlessly. Amazingly so. Perfect framerate and everything.

GTA 3 is so choppy as to be unplayable.

I managed to get Super Street Fighter IV HD to work but it, too, was choppy as hell.

Sonic 4 Episode 1 runs, again with a bit of flicker and lag. It's almost playable, but not quite.

Never managed to get Sonic CD to run properly.

Zenonia 1-3 run perfectly, but 4 struggles.

Flick Golf and Flick Golf Extreme are basically perfect.

Need For Speed Shift, of course, runs flawlessly.

Avenger does run, but it suffers from choppiness as well, but it's just this side of playable.

Sims 3 runs great, but isn't really that fun compared the the vastly superior PC (and even 3DS) version.

I'll report back once I've tested more games.
