Gapps Won't Open

Newbie
Whenever I try to flash CM 10.1 or CM 10, those files actually flash. But when I try to flash their corresponding Gapps, it fails to open them during the flashing and aborts it so I cant finish flashing CyanogenMod until I get help. Can somebody give me info on why this is happening or a solution to fix it?

Hi r0b :hello: Welcome to the forums.

I moved your thread to the All Things Root forum for you.

I'm not sure what is going on. I've never had anything like that happen. Which recovery are you using? Do you put the files on the root of your sd card? Have you tried re-downloading the gapps files?

I'm using clockworkmod regular though not touch. Yes I have retried downloading the Gapps multiple times, which didn't work and they were the right Gapps for their corresponding CyanogenMod version. I'm not really sure what you mean by putting them in the root of the SD Card. If you could tell me what exactly that means, that would help.

Put it on your sd card and not in a folder. What version of cwm are you using?

Does it matter if its in the external SD Card or the internal storage. Also I'm using CWM version 5.0.2.6

It shouldn't but I would try it on external.

That's a pretty old version of cwm. You might consider updating. The newer recoveries work better with jellybean Roms.

I'm also using darkside superwipe do you think that could be causing it?

No, if you're on 5.0.2.6 its good to use. The latest version of cwm is 6.0.3.1. You have the sgh-t989? If so, that's what ROM manager should have updated it to. The new recoveries you don't need superwipe and it could actually mess something up if you do use it.

You can also download goomanager from the play store and use it to install twrp recovery. Open goomanger, tap menu button and select 'Install OpenRecoveryScript. Give it a minute to download and install. TWRP is a very good touch recovery.

You aren't extracting the gapps file right? Just flashing the zip?

yeah just flashing also to be safe im downloading the gapps again but this time from goomanager and the updated version of cwm wasnt working all that good so i unrooted then rerooted and went back to 5.0.2.6

I don't know what this means but when I went to goomanager and downloaded the gapps, it said invalid md5 sum, so i tried again and now its downloading. Do you know what that means?

I think twrp for the s2 may have a different menu. TWRP 2.5.0.0 instead of 2.5.0.3 like for the S4. Under wipe if I remember right, there is factory reset, system, cache and dalvik cache. Just wipe those. Look at the sticky at the top of this page about how to root & rom the sgh-t989. I have some info on it in there.

I think I figured out why the Gapps wouldn't open during flashing and failed to flash. When I tried to download them again and it finished I looked at the file and it said 2.50mb. So now I'm thinking the file didn't download completely, because the 4.2.2 Gapps is 91mb.
