GB OTA has started

It appears as if the most recent leak (2.11.605.3) is in fact the GB OTA. Color me shocked as VM notifications and gtalk are still not functioning.

You can go to Menu>Settings>Software update and
 
I'm rooted, have had GB for months. Plus I have no way of checking as OTA's are disabled by ROM developers.
 
I wonder if the VM notification not working is going to be addressed by Verizon changing how they push the notification, ie: It's not broken!? Gtalk may be getting updated for compatibility with this build? These answers make more sense than shipping a build not ready for real world.
 
No update for me yet, I thought Moto was slow with pushing updates to phones but this one takes the cake. I've been debating getting rid of the thunderbolt for one of the newer phones coming out but haven't made up my mind yet.
 
I'm fascinated by the hate. It's everywhere, no matter what, you can't escape it.

Love my TB, its better then the X I previously owned. Looking forward to GB if for nothing else its something new to play around with, then I'll root, and play w/ that, and hopefully repeat the cycle a few more times before I get the latest and greatest in a year. So here's to you TB, and HTC, for making my day a little better and not quite as boring regardless of what people say.
 
Im sure once the update is out, the 2 issues will be fixed. gtalk with an app update and vm by verizon once its live

Ditto, the Captivate. Yeah, I'm not complaining about this little blip.

I wish I could afford to just dump a phone because a SW update didn't come when I wanted it (not that I would waste the money doing it. I just wish I could afford it).
 
Last time there was a big OTA like this for the TBolt, they waited until 8PM to begin rolling out. Coming soon may not be today, but could be tomorrow or the next day.

I can, people want the latest version on the OS they can push GB out before they come out with ICS and make everyone want it. I could see a MR OTA come out to fix the VM issue later but they want to go ahead and please the current customers the best they can, after the first ICS phone drops then people are going to be asking when the ICS update is going to be, if the OTA was after ICS was released the bolt was still on Froyo and got an update to GB it would give worse backlash towards VZW and HTC.

i predict the OTA will start pushing friday at 8.

as for pushing the brokenness,i think we can thank all the folks that complained it was taking too long. the masses would rather have broken GB right now than wait for it to be right,or root and install leaks. they made a big enuff stink that htc said "fine.youll have it in sept",then under their breath "working or not" ;).

in the OTAs defense,everything seemed ok to me,excpet the VM notifications.it felt noticably smoother than the previous leaks. im sure there will be a patch for VM soon. or who knows,maybe there are some refinements in the OTA that is different from the leak,but using the same firmware# since the update page had allready been created.

id advise folks to actually OTA(not install the last leak) and test VM,gtalk,and whatever else is important to you before getting too worked up. ;)

i persoanlly am planning on MR2ing friday afternoon,or whever first reports of being recived happen. :)
