Help GB Update-My Temporary Fix***

Cliff notes: Remove the SD card :)

So after updating yesterday, expecting to get a quicker, snappier DX, i ended up getting what was pretty much a useless cell phone, I realized that when I would plug my phone into my computer, and the SD card was unmounted, the phone would act normal and pretty much what i would expect the Gingerbread update to feel like. So i took the SD card out and voila, the phone works perfectly fine! any explanation as to why?

There are many things that could be going on. Just from what I have seen:

1-You have a bad file from something old on there that you no longer use that is causing problems.

2-Your SD card could be going bad.

3-You have apps that are actually on the SD card and that is causing problems, with 8GB internal storage you should not move any apps to the SD card as this has caused people problems, including myself with performance in the past.

What I would say to do is, copy everything that is important to you off your SD card, pictures, videos, music and documents to your computer. Format your SD card and put it back in and see how it runs. Then move back a little bit at a time and see if it keep running OK. If putting the SD card back in just kills it again, it is time to get a new SD card.

I experienced similar SD card issues with my phone after the GB update. My regular one just started locking up the phone and my backup died within 3 days of use. Finally I formatted a new one and didn't copy anything over from the old one and things are working well again.

I have a friend that had the same thing happen, and his phone is bone stock...never rooted.he ended up pulling the important stuff off the SD card, and formatting it,and its been fine since....

This was exactly my experience as well. After the update it kept locking up. It would work fine with the SD Card removed. After trying a few times to verify, I backed up my sdcard, reformatted and it seems okay now.
