I'm new here and this is a first...;)
I've been using GDE as a home replacement for some time now and i've decided to post some screenies to show off just how awesome this phone is!:D

Just tried editing some bootscreens and i came up with this one...:p
tell me if you like and i'll upload it here with a tutorial.
(i know the ideas aren't original but it's worth it to adapt for our phone :D)

Maybe they are a little nervous of the whole replacement launcher thing, if anyone is lurking and wondering... its really easy, you don't have to root your phone, its literally just downloading another app from the market! Honestly if this old broad can do it then anyone can!

I run ADW launcher and also use Home Switcher to give me easy access to switch between ADW and the two stock SE home apps you have on the big one. It was the addition of this last app that sealed the deal for me because I was worried about changing it, not liking it and not being able to get back to my SE screens.

If anyone is interested there is a similar thread on the X10 big forum to give you some ideas of what you could do.
 
The replacement doesnt need a rooted Android.
It binds your menu-button to the app and as far as i know, it closes the original homescreen on startup.

Its harmless :)
 
You don't have to be rooted to take screen shots cos I'm not but I did only find this out two weeks ago. The link provided above gives the details and is pretty straightforward.

Thank god for this!

My Mrs just got the Mini Pro today and the Sony Software is a nitemare and not exactly customisable compared to others.

This looks like a great Home replacement :-D

One thing I've noticed is Handcent doesnt have all the options on the Mini Pro as it does on my desire?
 
Is your Desire running 2.1 or 2.2 cos it maybe that the added functionality comes with the upgrade? We will be getting 2.1 soon (supposedly, fingers crossed, with a fair following wind and the stars being in the right alignment!) so maybe we will catch up with you.

2.2, but the options were there on 1.5 Hero before.

Gonna spend Saturday going through the Mini pro and adding ADW most likely and going from there.

T-Mobile UK say End of November for 2.1 update on Mini Pro. So slow!

yup GDE's a paid app but i think you can google it...:p
for the previous screens, i used SMS Unread Count Widgets and a Post it Desk...both of which are available on the market...:D

sorry for bringing the thread up again, just recently got my xperia mini pro, ozzy is there a chance to do the same desktops as you have even if i dont root my handset?
