"General notification" icon after changing SD card

I've just changed the original 4GB SD card for a 16GB from play.com as mentioned here last week. I now seem to have the "General Notification" icon on the home screen pretty much all of the time, i.e. the one with an exclamation mark in a triangle. Everything appears normal otherwise but it's mildly irritating.

Anyone know what might be happening? One clue is that sometimes the phone powers up without the icon but pressing 'Map' seems to bring it up.

Is it usable? That warning is one of the indicators that your card is not formatted.

It seems so. However, I re-formatted the 16GB card and copied the files back on to it, with identical results. Tried the same with a Kingston 8GB Class 6, ditto. I've now put the original 4GB Samsung back in and it's exactly the same. The notification icon appears as soon as I hit 'Maps' and doesn't then go away whatever I do.

Might this be something odd about Google Maps 5, I wonder?

Answering my own question, reverting to 4.4 solves the problem and the icon goes away.
