Help General questions thread/discussion (New to Android/M7?)

If you don't mind the annoyance, set the Secured Lock Time to something like 30 seconds and require a PIN to unlock.

Thanks for the suggestions. I set up a PIN. Under Lock phone after, my choices were Immediately, 3, 5, 10, and 15. I don't see where you can put in a custom lock time, like 30 seconds.

set it to "immediately" and it locks after the screen is turned off. i dont recall a "Custom" setting for this in the stock config.

I tried to take a picture at work today but the zoe feature was on. No matter what I try it will not turn off. No matter the setting, zoe remains on. Please help.

if you are in camera mode, you should see zoe up top in the middle of the screen. if its blue, just tap it and it should change to white text. this disables zoe.

I thought that all call logs were stored until deleted. I went back 2 months looking for a number that I had called and for a call that I had received only to find out that in call logs it only went back a certain number of days. Anyone here know a way around this where one can look back 2-4 months in call records/logs on the phone?

Many thanks :)

Since they're overwritten, no. The worst part is that there's no way to write the log out to save it. It's almost as if the log was added as an after-no-thought.

unknown to you perhaps but its the NFC icon. this is not a product of the device, its within the OS, so this appears on other handsets also.

if you turn off NFC, this icon goes away.

Hi, welcome to Android Forums.

From your description I think that is the NFC (Near Field Communication) function. Mine defaulted to 'on' after one of the software updates.

Go into Settings (Wireless and Networks) - More - NFC, and you'll find an 'On/Off' toggle top right.

:)

Hi. I recently upgraded to the HTC One; I've had it for a few days. Today, I noticed that the LED notifications only flashes when my screen is locked. It's not flashing on home screen or if using apps. I'm not sure if this is suppose to do this or not.

P.S. I went from a phone that didn't have a notification flash, so this is new to me.

I have the Sprint HTC ONE and it flashes with the screen on.
Well until I rooted and turned them off.
That blinking drives me crazy.

Thinking of getting the HTC One(M7), but i need to know if the stock OS offers badges for the email and msg apps. This is important to me. I see the phone has a little green LED built into the speaker grill. Will that blink when i get an email or text msg? Thanks for any help.

Yes the stock launcher offers badges for email and SMS. The led is red/green/amber multicolor and by default it will flash with new notifications, although you can turn that off in settings.

Thanks. I'm guessing that you can't assign one of the LED colors to email, and one to msg. Lightflow doesn't work well with HTC, so rooting the phone could be a solution.:p

No, most notifications will show up green. I had one app that did red ones but it was a task manager app

O.K. I can live with that, maybe until i figure out how to root it. Thanks for the feedback.:p
P.S. Half my family comes from Texas, and my Dad was born in Temple.

Hi everyone

I just bought an HTC One and I have several questions, hope you can help me answering them.
I would REALLY appreciate if you could help me (: no matter if you answer only one question

Here's the list:

  • I have Android 4.2.2 and I checked for software update and it said that it's up to date, but HTC's webpage says that there's already a 4.4 version for my phone, why's this?
  • When I pull down the notification's bar and switch to the dashboard, the transition that occurs it's kinda weird, it doesn't look smooth, is that normal?
  • Can i disable BlinkFeed?
  • Other apps and functions lag too (e.g. Facebook app and when swiftkey keyboard expands)
  • I don't want my home screen to have several "tabs", I just want one, is this possible?
  • What's the option of Beats Audio that appears on settings? What's that for? Louder speakers?
  • My general experience with this phone is kinda disappointing, I thought that it was going to be a bit faster/smoother, do you think that's because of the software?
Thanks for reading and for the help!
I don't know if this helps, but i'm from Mexico, I don't know if that matters.

4.4 kitkat is available

Not sure why pull down isn't smooth.
Maybe ram issue, too many processes.

Grab a custom rom to disable blinkfeed.
My device has been stolen so I haven't tested stock kitkat.

Facebook update is a pita.

Delete home tabs you don't want.

Beats audio makes your speakers boom.

The device is smooth and fast from my experience.

pls delete this. I answered my question shortly after posting this

As I type this The update for KitKat 4.4.3 and Sense 6 are installing. FIRST item on the change list is improved power management. OH PLEASE let it be so. I love this phone in so many ways, but 4.4.2 killed it for battery life - and yes, I've tried EVERYTHING.

Fingers crossed

Is there a way to set a specific text tone to a contact... a silent tone? I have a few contacts and I get annoyed when they text so is there a way to have their text tone be silent... I'm a former IPhone user and they had a feature where you can go to the persons contact and change the text tone to none... can this be done on the HTC ONE as well, if so how?

-Thanks
T

I haven't seen that exactly but there are similar that you can try for free - silence everyone except those on the "ok" list.

Search "silent notification" in the Play Store, see if any are appealing enough to try.

Hope this helps, welcome to the forums!
