I want to buy a USB 3.0 pen drive for external storage.

There are several alternatives available from the Google Play store which offer advantages over the stock keyboard, many of which are free. There is a loooong thread on this board where people express their preferences, so that's worth a look. For myself, I really wanted left / right / up / down cursor keys so that I could easily move the cursor to wherever I wanted. The solution I found was Perfect Keyboard Free, although I've since paid for Perfect Keyboard Pro. I have it set to show black text on light grey keys, although you can change this to suit your own preferences. It does also do compact and T9 layouts, as well as a split keyboard. Other people have settled on a different keyboard, such as Swiftkey - the nice thing is that you can, at the very least, try the free versions first, and it's quite likely that you'll find a free one that does everything you need. And, even if you decide to upgrade, it'll only cost you a pound/dollar or two.

There are many apps for Android which are totally free, but some where you'll probably decide it's worth parting with a small amount of money for. I certainly wouldn't be concerned that you won't find what you want - one of the beauties of Android is that it's open enough for there to be alternatives for almost anything.

I didn't mean white letters on grey keys on the keyboard - ignore the keyboard part of my question for now - I meant do you have to be typing white text onto a black screen? And when you receive a text are you reading white text on a black screen? Is this indeed the case for the whole phone, and can it be changed?

Many thanks for looking at your phone for me. I was hoping someone would do that.
 
By coincidence, I've just had a visitor who has an S3. I didn't know she had one. She showed me hers and has all the settings with black text on a light/white background so I won't have any problems.
 
Can someone tell me how you can use the copy text or paste text feature in google chrome?

I can't even get clipboard to show up.

I can only speak on the weather app... I downloaded the Beatiful Widgets app from the android market. Very comparable to my sister's EVO weather app! It is very customizable too.
 
Hi, it's my first time posting on one if these so I don't even know if I'm in the right place... I have the galaxy s3 and I deleted the Internet shortcut in the bottom task bar where contacts and messaging and all that is... Now I cnt add the icon back, iv done it before the last update and I cud just drag the app down, now it just comes up with delete when I try to do it now.. Can someone pls help, it's doing my head in!

Hi, find a blank spot on your home screen, touch and hold the screen, a menu will appear, choose the "Add to home screen" selection, then choose "Apps and Widgets", scroll through them until you get to Internet (they are in alphabetical order), touch and hold on the icon and it will appear on your home screen. Phil
 
My partner is and Electrical Engineer ( she works for a branch of NASA in the UK for 11 years )and she says that you cannot under charge or over charge them as they have built in circuitry to stop this. Lithium Ion Polymer batteries cannot be damaged by under charging or over charging. She said that once a month let it run down to just under 20% and then do a full recharge.

So there you go, battery problem solved.
 
I have an apple Airport Express wireless router at home. Is there a way that I can connect a Galaxy S3 to the wireless and play 8Tracks from the phone through speakers connected to the wifi? Btw, I have a mac, and I can play music (whether it be iTunes, through the internet or the Airfoil program) through the wifi. I would really appreciate any information provided how great the new Galaxy phone is! Cheers!
 
Probably a bit of a noobish question, but I just got this phone :p

I have an icon in the notification bar that I cannot identify. I don't recall seeing it on either my Nexus or Evo in the past, I don't have a picture so I'll do my best to describe it.

There is a square that is rotated so it on a point (like a diamond). Within this square is a plus sign. The plus sign is positioned like a + with no regard for the rotated square. On the right of the square is a few 'wireless' lines. The series of curves.

EDIT: Okay, word is that this icon I'm describing here belongs to the Verizon Location. :D
 
Quick question, and it's probably answered already but does the samsung gs3 come with a screen protector applied already like some androids?

ah i found where you type.. Hi People found a lot of answers in the past with these forums but never posted - I have an issue i hope maybe one of you can help me with. I have the Samsung S3 and ooops i dropped it for possibly the 5th time on sunday, this time was more than just a cracked screen and now i can no longer see anything... the insurance claim form is on the way but my question is this...

I dont want to lose the pictures that are there.. last 3 months worth - rest are fine as they seem to be on the memory card but there is about 3 months missing, i also have a pattern lock on my screen so just pluggin it in to kies does not seem to be efective. there are also some personal keepsafe pics in there toothat i wouldnt want to lose and some videos of the kids etc. Anyone gotany ideas or tips of what i can do if anything?
 
Hey Everyone,
The screen brightness control for the internet browser on my new S3 seems to have disappeared. At one point, I remember setting a control where I had a choice of four screen power settings. Now there's nothing in the phone setting or the browser settings other than power saving and overall brightness.

I did the AT&T OTA update the other day, but I don't know if I lost the control before or after that. Thanks for any help - my browser is almost too dim to read! :)
 
just got my S3! had a BB torch before. that screen looks way too small now haha

I just had a question.

Whenever I try to log in to my Samsung Account it says "processing failed" every time. My email and password is correct. I tried it with Wi-fi and data. I even googled to find some answer but couldn't.

So, if anyone can help me out that would be really appreciated!

Have you created a new account with samsung via the sign up/register page and receive an activation email on the email address you supplied?

There seems to be some confusion with the Samsung account as some people seem to think they can log in with existing credentials with the another provider but this isn't the case, you have to register a new account with samsung.

Yes, I registered first then got the email and activated the account. Even changed my password by going to account.samsung.com but still said processing failed when I try to sign in :s

anything I can do?
 
My alerts are muted. The volume is turned up all the way, but there is a line crossing out the alerts icon when I open the volume and show the 3 sliders. How do I get that unmuted?
 
Can someone educate me, what the hell is contacts backup and how do i stop it from failing all the time regardless of if i'm on wifi or not.
