Hey guys, bought my S3 a couple days ago and it's pretty good so far. For some reason though, when ever I use pop up play with any video, it lags my UI so much. All the apps, scrolling and everything looks slow and laggy. Is there something wrong with my GS3?

I think there is a setting somewhere to have it automatically answer on speaker. If you can find that, see if it is checked. Sorry I can't be more specific; I am running a JB rom and the settings are all different.
 
Hello

I have an external battery that i have been using with my old phone for about a year now, and decided to get a galaxy S3. I understand that the galaxy charger ouputs at 1000 mA but the max current output of the battery is 700mA. I have already tried using it to charge the phone but it took about twice as long as it does from the charger. Will using this battery with the S3 damage the phone, its battery life or have any negative side effects?

Hello all,

The home button in my samsung galaxy s3 has stopped taking me back to the home page. Also, when I long press the button, task manage has stopped coming up.

What could be the problem here and how do i rectify this?

I use my cell phone as my home phone as well and would like to set it at night to only ring for incomming calls.

My defalt is set to vibrate for incomming e-mails and a tone for text messages but would like them disabled at night without having to change the settings every time.

Can I do this?

I don't know if there's a way to do it using the phone settings. I haven't found it if there is. But I want the same thing you do so I use an app called, "Volume Control." There are more than one with this name and they have similar functions. But I found that the one that I use works best for me. It gives me the option to set different volumes. It has: System Volume, Ringer Volume, Notification Volume, Media Volume, Alarm Volume, and In-Call Volume. It also allows me to set three different presets. You can adjust the various volumes to whatever you want and label them for that occasion. I have "Home", "Sleep", and "Drive." For the one labeled "Sleep" I have the System and In-call volume up all the way and the media volume is off. The ringer and alarm volume is set in the medium range and Notification is down pretty low. When I go to bed I tap the app open and select the sleep mode. There is also the ability to set vibration for the ringer and notifications slide bars. I keep it on my home screen and use it several times a day. I love it. YMMV. If you do a search on the Google Play Store for "Volume Control" you'll get a few options. The one I use is by "RevsoDev." It is free. There is a paid version for $1.60 but I'm fine with the few ads.

My SGS3 had the problem with the Home button not taking me back to the home screen one time. But I didn't notice if there was any problem with the task manage part. I rarely use that function. This may be obvious but have you tried just rebooting your phone? That worked for me. That was a few weeks ago or so and it hasn't happened since. If simply rebooting doesn't work you could try removing the battery when it's off. Or, you can do a "Soft reset" by removing the battery while the phone is still on. If you've already tried these things then, I dunno...???
 
Hey all. Im transferring a ton of music to the microSD card in my phone, estimated time is 3hrs+. I want to be able to access some apps, mainly text messages. But when I swipe to unlock, it stays in the MTP application saying synchronizing. Anyway to get out of it?
 
Phone wakes up: black screen: occasionally when I wake up my phone and, slide to unlock, the screen goes black. I then need to hit the power button to get the screen back. This just started happening today. Any suggestions?
 
Why doesn't Google Now show me any of these screens, it just gives me Google Search results when I ask it a question.

So the Google Now isn't speaking to me and neither gives these "cards":

I am, however, getting the Weather card etc. but none of these after asking a question.

blocking mode in settings... See picture but you can shut off notifications at whatever time you want

I should now this, but do not. My S3 when mobile most always gets a crappy signal. I do a prl and profile update and bam...full bars and good signal. Happens from home, to work, visiting etc... anyway I'm tired of having to update prl/profile most times I move about my day.
1. Is this normal for S3
2. Is there an app or widget that can do a one step profile/prl update
I've tried unrooting/ factory reset and all sprint updates... it does this stock or rooted. currently on the lastest JB OTA and stock rooted..
any ideas / help would be great...thanks!

I just recently bought this phone, carrier is Metropcs. I love the phone so far but was wondering why this phone stays on 3G.

Before this I had the LG Esteem which was always on 4G so I know it can't be my location. I choose the same plan I had, $50 4G so I'm not sure why the phone is stuck on 3G.
 
Hiya all...When I got my phone I did not have an SD card and went a couple of weeks without one. Meanwhile my photos and music that was on my computer was downloaded to the phone. Now that I have an SD card installed, I don't know how to move these to the card. How do I go about it?

Also...following the suggestion from some helpful soul I transferred the SD card on my Dx to the computer and loaded that to the S3. How do I access the stuff now on my SD card?

Unlimited Wireless Service - MetroPCS to see if they offer 4g (LTE) in your area... not 100% sure but if they are like sprint, they had 4g(wi max) thats a whole different radio... when I went from my evo, to the s3, found this out the hard way...

on windows pc you should see both internal/external storage cards
if your on a mac.. watch this

Sounds like your on windows?? I have mac with dated windows know how. I believe you can select your files on the internal card (select 1st file...tab to last file and hit shift) or just drag the whole folder to your sd card... if thats not it, maybe some windows folks can jump in
Once the files are moved and your sure they are safe on the SD card, just delete the copys on the internal side. Me? I always keep a backup and 2 different external hard drives.Keep one at work, one at home...just never know what could happen
 
Do I have to "root" my phone to customize it fully? I'd like to have really snazzy home and lockscreens and other such pages like the ones I see on the xda forums. Maybe something like this with a different wallpaper.

Can I achieve these without rooting. I think I'd like to root someday but for now I'm still quite new to the phone and don't know what I'm doing. How can I send icon packs I download to my phone?


 
Also, I hear a lot about bloatware on the stock phone, and I definitely do see a lot of apps I have no interest in. Any recommendations about apps I can disable/delete with no problem? I don't want to go crazy on my own and start disabling everything in case I disable something that's actually important.
