General Verizon Question

So I've always had a Galaxy Nexus but never used it and I decided to finally make it my daily phone. However the only LTE Sim card I have from verizon is this huge one that fits for the Spectrum, I believe its a mini Sim card. And the one that the Galaxy Nexus uses is the mini Sim. Ok here's where my question rises.

I know I can use a cutter for the sim card I currently have and simply insert it into the Galaxy Nexus but could I request a mini Sim from a Verizon store with my number on it and just activate it from there while still retaining my number?

Thanks for any responses.

I don't see why Verizon wouldn't accommodate you, that seems like a very reasonable request. It's a Verizon Galaxy Nexus right?

Yes, but it is a $10 charge for a new sim card. They may wave the charge being as you currently have one, but it all depends on which rep you get.

Yes it is a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, thank you for your input!

Oh that's fine then a $10 charge is manageable. I will cross my fingers for a cool rep :p. Thanks again for the input!

$10 to enable LTE on a great device? I'd say that's all systems go.(but that's just me anyway, ha!) :D

Let us know how it turns out! :D

EDIT: Oh one more question - Do I need to do anything at all to the Galaxy Nexus when I put in the sim card? It was my friend's and he used his own sim card before so I just want to make sure that I'll be able to use my own sim (my own number really) for the phone.

Sorry for all the questions but I'll never know until I ask.

Questions are welcome! That's why we're here, to help each other out.

IIRC you should be good to go when you throw it in, but I would ask a Verizon rep just to be sure. I know I like getting what I pay for, and I'm sure you do as well hehe.

Alright sweet. Thanks very much IOWA! Your words are very much appreciated.

I'm going to go ahead and move it to the Verizon Forum for some more input.

I know with so many forums these things can be worse to find than a needle in a haystack.

Yeah, basically swapping sim cards changes the number the phone works on. Everything else will stay the same I believe.

Most the time they won't charge for a new sim when you're swapping out one. Or activating a new device with LTE and don't have one. They charge when you lose it though, why you would take it out for extended periods of time I'm not sure. I've taken it out for a few just to blow dust off the contacts.
