It is best to keep the flash that is installed with the image, because it performs much better than any other that you install. The problem however is that in the UK at least, that BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, 4OD, and YouTube Shows don't work with this version of flash. If you uninstall the one that comes with the image, you can then install one that will work with these sites, (latest market version) however, the quality is really poor. The main problem is with stuttering and glitching sound. I have decided to keep to the one with the image. There are plenty of other ways to watch catchup tv, just ashame I can't do it with this device, if I could it would be complete!

i can watch youtube perfectly with stock flash(flash that comes with image), bbciplayer will play live tv well but not catchup, itv player will play but very low framerate

As some may now i am another guy that bricked his ATV2000, ...

Independently if I use Putty or Teraterm the response after powerup or reset is:

Firmware start at: 0x000098d6
RSLR0=00000249 RDGR0=00000249
Stage 00 Result 00000000
Stage 01 Result 00000000
Stage 02 Result 00000000
Firmware started, now starting u-boot...
0x12345678
Boot From SPI0x12345678
Enter Exception:0x00000001
0x8f036020

also independently if there is an sd card with whatever data is inserted or not.

according to the two "unbrick step by step instructions" that i know there should be a much longer response...

any ideas?

The flash player that is shipped with the firmware has been modified to use the hardware acceleration built into the device. That works fine for most non protected content, but iPlayer etc. is DRM'ed. It would probably need Adobe themselves to provide hardware support for this chipset to make them work correctly. The bad news is that Adobe are dropping support for Flash, so I wouldn't hold your breath expecting it to happen.

i have the same issue with the "online update", it finds new version, download, reboot, installs but when u check is the old version and it suggest to update and repeat the process. hope in future this option will be in working order.
and i still have issue with the display position. each time i start it, the display shifts a bit to left or right, up or down, not much but to enough to hide the white line. so every time i start the box, i position the display. cant it remember the position somehow??
the rest seems to be ok for now.

I have updated the latest Enjoy TV New Android 2.3 Firmware Version.20120111. Everything is fine. It is no longer lagging anymore during using air mouse to control the app.

But one thing should improve about videoplayer apk,its font size of subtitles film should be changed any size you want (maybe the maximum > 50 ). Because the current maximum size is only 30, too small to watching it on big Screen TV.

Thanks,
ZZ

There is new official Android 2.3 update on Geniatech web: :) ok we know about it but its an official news.

hello friends.
I went back.
I found the right wire,
and now I have the correct connection to the device.
I tried and it's almost good. but there is an error message:
ERROR: can't get kernel image!STV # ERROR: can't get kernel image! <INTERRUPT>
For which the process of stopping. I need your help. What should I do to fix this?

I have been tying to get my unit reflashed/repaired but I cannot get the STV# up. Any Ideas as to how?

As I understand, once you have #STV up on the screen, you have access to the chip and you can start the repair process and reflash the various bits and pieces as per the previous posts. Anyway that is what I would/will do if I can get the #STV up.

Further, as I undersatnd it, the process and the subsequent updtaes will fix up your current error.

BTW could you post the way you have set up your wiring, ie Rx Tx & Pos Earth.

I note the Russian site uses a 3 wire system Rx Earth TX

Hi All,

I bricked my NeonIQ android tv last night.. long story ... any of the guys looking to unbrick theirs have any luck?.. :)

Thanks
Scud

@enviro8

regarding wiring:
There is a pinout of the connector on the ATV200 at the KGD-Team website.
I only use RXD, TXD and GND.
On the "other side" I use a "USB to TTL cable" with FTDI chipset and I connect
1.) RXD from ATV to TXD of TTL cable (connect receive with send)
2.) TXD from ATV to RXD of TTL cable (connect send with receive)
3.) GND from ATV to GND of TTL cable

after setting up the terminal program at my PC (e.g. putty) i switch on my atv and then i instantly get "responses" from my atv on the terminal window. unfortunately it does not get to the #STV line but stops somewere before and i don't have the possibility to enter any commands (see my post above).

i don't know if that answers your question...

You must have to interrupt the boot process.
Hit any key to stop autoboot immediately after power on.

If you write some other U-boat then you have now only a nice box.
You don't have tools to program the flash. They are usually available only for the box manufacturer from the flash chip manufacturer. Software is confidential.
TTL line pins connection is only for debug or operations on U-Boot command line (based on present U-boot). To rescue U-boot you must use UART interface on pcba.

Look at my log from rescue ATV300:

how did you bricked your box?

Its very easy to brick the device, i first went into recovery mode and THEN put the SD card in to update the SPI, well the stupid remote did not work so i couldnt choose option 3 or whatever i was meant to, so i went to get my usb keyboard i had read tons of enviro's posts so i knew the remote thing can happen sometimes and usb keyboard is all you need, so i plugged the keyboard in but still didnt work so i figured i have to reboot it with the keyboard plugged in, i did just that... rebooted into recovery mode and forgot to take the stupid SD card out... it instantly booted up and "updated" my device into a brick worthy of being a nice black paper weight.. :)

as fun as unbricking sounds like it might be, i've only had it for a few days so i'll see if i can get a replacement for a DOA... lol i was following the actual instructions from geniatech so i figure if they could actually write better instructions or made a better way to update the box i wouldnt end up in the mess ... so im gonna return it they can reflash it n sell it to someone else it would probably take them about 5 mins .. just have to hope they'll replace it for me.. hehehehe (yes yes in the end it was my fault for forgetting etc... )

Possible re-brand of Genaitech player by Sumvision, what makes this interesting is the TV UI screenshot (assuming it's not faked) it has a media center interface which other Geniatech boxes lack. It has Amlogic chipset and also has the same Android logo from Geniatech recovery menu.

I wonder could you extract the alternate launcher from it and use it on other boxes.

from there support page: very interesting!!

Can I Play BBC iPlayer?

Unfortunately the player is not optimised to play BBC iPlayer. While you will be able to view programs, playback is very slow

Also my box has a media ui, also Im sure all Geniatech do its an option to use main app or launcher when you start

The Genaitech will do the same if you put in an official version of the flash player rather then the modified one supplied with the firmware.
