Geniatech Enjoy TV

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask how can I update my Not Only TV ARM Cortex A9/512ram/4gb rom, based google tv.

Device Looks exacly as Geniatech atv1000. It Identifies itself as.

M3 media box board
Android version 2.3.4 - 20111102.152703
Kernel 2.6.34
Recovery version v1.3.0-32
Uboot V1.3.6-13

I would like to update my system to newer version to check out how it will work. Also I have some issues with skype on my logitech c370 camera. Device hangs.

It is clone and no problem with ATV1000 update files!

faoit the problem is resolved. If the update does not include YouTube application, prepare a copy of the application from the last update 20120111 to SD card or USB. Using Rootexplorer copy the application to the /system/app.. dir and give the same permissions as are other files have.

:) Congratulations Youtube application runs now in HD.

Thank you for you answer. But I wanted to make this update safely. I heard that couple fellows around here have bricked their devices. I don't want to be one of them. Do I need something else bseides update.img file for update? Is there any bootloader update that have to be done before image can be updated ? Or just standard procedure, reset button and update "update.img" file from sd card ?

I have the same Not Only TV from about 6 months . All of the updates went fine.
I think this device it is not a clone , it is a Geniatech product with a different brandname.
(like MyGica , Media-tech , Neoniq etc)

I make firmware upgrade to 20120111 version, but after update in my device information is written: 20111102.110329 for Uboot ver. and 20111101.190701 for Recovery ver.

As I understand there are two types of updates;

One updates the Build and Kernel and is the normal updates found here and one which you used.

The other is a SPI update that updates the UBoot and Recovery sections.

If you look at the transition from Android 2.2 Frodo to 2.3 Gingerbread etc. as detailed in earlier posts, there are several SPI updates required.

The normal updates do not update UBoot or recovery

I have two questions for my atv 1000.

1) I upgraded firmware 2.3.4, ok, but I can not fix destop icons near, there is always an empty column between two icons, any suggestions?

2) know any app (ftp, wifi) that allows you to transfer files from PC to 'USB hard drive connected to' atv100 (mnt \ sda \ sda1)? for the moment I can only transfer files to the sdcard (mnt \ sdcard)

Maybe you should install something link busybox and access it by SSH. Then try to mount Hard Drive.
 
I receive my Geniatech Enjoy TV ATV3000 yesterday, I will share my unboxing movie soon ;)

I update mine, original Rom was 2.2.5 to 2.3.4 for people who need to do it you have 2 good tutorials:

but for the ATV3000 to boot into recovery mode you have to:
- 20110906 version:
box power off, switch it on, and press on the Menu button on the top of the box and don't release it until you are in recovery mode!
- 20111102 and 20120111 version:
box power off, switch it on, and press on the Play button on the top of the box and don't release it until you are in recovery mode!

Really great box for the price, I put a old HDD SATA 120Go into it and it been found easily...

very great box and will be a good dlna server I think ;)

Regarding to your first question, I can't give you any particular tip (I have yet a 2.2.5 firmware release),
but if you don't find a solution, I can suggest Apps Organizer.apk with which you can easily organize and access to your apps.
It can be downloaded from Android Market or here:

Had a bit of a success story last night.

I Installed bubbleuPnP on the Geniatech and managed to get SD recordings from my Humax Freesat HDR streaming to the box and playing in a different room. (The Humax has additional software installed -Twonky, Mediatomb etc)

Strange thing is though that the same software on my phone and tablet will not play the videos????

I have made some trials and effectively, using an usb hard disk (formatted in NTFS) I'm having problems to copy files.
Till now I have used SSD pendrive in FAT32 and everything worked...
At this point I don't know if the problem depends by use of different usb device (hard disk rather than pendrive) or by its formatting (NTFS rather than FAT32)... :confused:

file systems that can be used on the devices:
- Fat16 to read \ write, limits on the file to 2GB
- Fatt32 to read \ write, limits on the file to 4GB
- Exfat to read \ write, limits on the file not, only one problems - sometimes the folder attributes are changed with the DRW to _RW, the folder will be read as the file, is not recommended for use
- NTFS - to read only (limits for android 2.3.x)
- Ext3 - to read\write, there is no limit for write files,
requires special preparation folders on the disk:
1. Install and run the Root Explorer then set button - R/W.
2. Select the appropriate folder on the external drive is preformatted in ext3 - are
/mnt/sda/sda1/.... or /mnt/sdb/sdb1/....
4. Change the permissions for the folders or files needed rwxrwxrwx (long press the button to folder).

Skifta.apk from the Android Market supports DLNA via wireless.

I use Nero Media Home 4 on my PC and this is DLNA compliant and can stream live TV from my PC's video card to my TV Box. I can also access other video and stuff on my PC and other logged in devices.
 
I have a problem:
I cannot copy any file on my hard disk (NTFS) connected via USB.
For example, I cannot transfer a file from the SD Card (FAT32) to the Hard Disk or from WiFi to Hard Disk, but I can copy from Hard Disk or from WiFi to the SD card or to a USB pendrive(FAT32) ...

Does not ATV1000/Android support NTFS?
Suggestions?
