Geniatech Enjoy TV

has anyone has issues with the tv tuner on the atv2000/equivalent?
EDIT: id also love to use a cordless kb/mouse or a BT kb/mouse. anyone doing that?

any keyboard/mouse set should work. as you finded.
about tv dongle-is it original geniatech or some generic/pc dongle? i also tryed with two different dongles, no one worked. i'm missing drivers. try to find original geniatech dongle.

Siddys any luck getting your k/board back? Which post has the details? Anyone? A list of good posts is needed. Or a forum for this hardware.

for now, there is no tips for KB. one-if it works, it will work. second-sometime is just needed to re-pair device with KB. read the manual. it is in beginning, in few first pages. if that doesn't bring kb back, it is ready for service. and, service in most cases ends with replacing whole set. even reflashing doesn't help.

of course, if he tryed first to change batteries! :D

issues i have with fw4:
-after setting the screen size, every time i play video, it seems to zoom in and the controls of the video player are outside the screen. even f i make the dimension smaller, once in video, controls are away too. so no matter what display size u set, once u play video in zoomes in.
-after applying "network" patch, i can go in the samba file and play videos, ut once i exit "network" i can not get in anymore. i get error "IP access denied" or similar. i have to reboot
-how to properly power off the device? at the moment i press the button on the box for a few seconds. hope it does not harm the box

any one experiences the same??
Hi stasik, regarding to videos, I don't have any issue (indifferently, both from external support and from internet pages).
I think you should control settings on your tv (mine is setted as not in scale, and 720p on android device).
Regarding to network connection in samba, I can confirm the same bug reported by you.
At this moment, the only way to power off the device is to press power button, or unplug electrical connection.
I noticed another issue: the new white pointer is not centered (the click position is shifted to the left, respect to pointer).
You can verify in this way: go to Settings --> Developer options --> Pointer location --> (check it)...
then...click on the screen.
(The black pointer of 20120411 release and the white one, made by cupi1234, were smaller but more precise).

I am having problem when I plug in an external hdd (usb) on every ICS versions. The screen goes black and flashes and then the box freezes and I have to reboot.
If I boot with the external drive plugged in, the system is realy unstable.
Before, with Froyo or Gingerbread, I was able to use it whitout any issue.
I reinstalled Gingerbread and I was again able to use it.
Otherwise it seems that everything works.

I seems to me that ICS updates are having difficulty with USB.

This is not confined to these TV Boxes as my tablet when I update to ICS loses its USB connection.

This is why the TV dongle is not found.

However if this is the case why does the keyboard work as the receiver is plugged into an internal USB point.

An, of course WiFI does not work

this is the original dongle that came with the package. i suspect its the T119 going by the pictures on the website. drivers would be nice and instruction on how to install them.

Keyboard updates:

-can use a wireless kb/mouse no problems installing.

-cant successfully get the android onscreen keyboard to go away. pops back up randomly and messes with the functionality of the hardware kb. when the android keyboard is not showing all functionality of hardware keyboard works, such as arrows, F keys, shift etc. when android keyboard shows arrows dont work and shift doesnt work. if i go to settings app, then come back to the app i want to type in, the keyboard behaves again.

-android keyboard has some asian characters on it, even though the system is setup for english

-characters mustn't be translating correctly. while they appear correct, when converted into passwords they do not match and logins fail. EG i signed up for android forums on the enjoytv, but couldnt login on the PC with the password i supplied so i had to reset it. then i tried to login to skype on the enjoytv, but it wouldnt recognise my usual password so i reset it on the enjoytv, no it wont recognise the skype login on the PC. this is happaning with both the hardware wireless kb.mouse and the oem flymouse. this might have something to do with the point above regarding asian chars.

Why not just uninstall the android keyboard in the android distro? there is no touch functionality on 99% of TV/monitors so it is redundant.

No problems here with wifi connecting or net browsing on ICS.

agree - network works well both wifi and ethernet.

a slight issue i encountered is that the ethernet did not connect on first boot after ICS upgrade. on reboot it was fine.

another slight issue is that the play store doesnt recognise the ethernet as a high volume network. it warns about the 3g carrier charges for large files and suggests connecting to wifi to avoid slowness or extra charges.

neither of this symptoms are normal. is it possible that some other remote device is accidentally trigger android on screen kb? few buttons of my tv are turning on and off device.
if you do not need on screnn KB, you can try to diseable it in settings, try to remove latin.apk from system files, but that i do not recommend, or install some keyboard app from market. i have installed go keyboard+croatian plug-in+white theme (original go KB is too dark and little hard to read it). and work flawless. all special characters from croatian are here, and no traces of any asian signs. try it, it is free.

uninstalling kb from distro could bring too many troubles.

Just a quick poll. How many are using Android 4.0 ICS and how many are still using Android 2.3 Gingerbread?

I am still using Android 2.3 because I have heard Flash performance on ICS is not as good, and Netflix does not work, and other video decoding issues exist. Can someone comment on this?

Thanks.

I'm contemplating getting a geniatech box as they seem pretty awesome, but one question I have that I hope someone here can answer, it talks about all the different types of TV it supports, does it support TV servers, like myth or media portal? I already have one set up so plugging one of these in to take over the rest of the TVs would be perfect.

2.3. didn't even try to install ics. imho, still too many bugs and even final version arrive, 512mb of ram will be problem.

Well I am half and half at the moment.

By rooting ICS (see above) you can try new flash players, etc. But the decision will relate to the TV Dongle. If it goes on ICS, I will stick with it, if it doesn't its back to Gingerbread.

@enviro8: does the T119 work for you? I just got one to use on the ATV1000, Android 2.3, HiDTV 1.9.2. I gave it a quick go, failed every time while scanning for channels. Manage to get it working only once by early aborting the scan but get blank screen on subsequent runs. Appreciate yours and others opinions on how to get it working reliably. PS: Anyone got it working on Ubuntu 11.10?

ICS
I don't have problems.
Wifi works fine , youtube videos plays perfect. The videoplayer it's ok , play all types of videos including DVD ISO.
I don't have problems with 2.3 firmware versions but the ICS it' faster.

After upgrading ICS, I got some issues below

-Enable ro.sf.lcd_density=240 in build.prop (Rooted) and reboot the screen is not correct, sometimes it is too big, you couldn't see all screen (720, 1080 mode).
-mouse pointer doesn't click precise any position on the screen
-Video player not increase font size than 30 and not save changed setting , everytime you open the new film, font size is always reset default (annoy).
-Sometime, box is frozened
-zoom in/out , power button don't work.
-Flash in goolge browser has issue about GUI. When you zoom in, the flash bring on the front the Browser Toolbar

I have only been using HDMI on my ATV1000 till now. I am testing CVBS for a friend. From my TV I am plugging the Yellow, Red, White cable to Black, Red, White on the ATV1000 box. And before doing this I switched the setting to "480i CVBS" in Android. But this is not working, I'm just seeing static/noise. Is this box supposed to work with CVBS?

that will not work! red/white/yellow are different type of signal. this combo you trying is not compatible.
red/blue/green (YUV Video) are only video signals. for lcd tv, plasma, projector you still missing audio. there are those red&white on box. black is dead. or, at least on this model. i did exactly same thing first time, thinking that black=yellow.
classic, "everyday" yellow/red/white are the worst way to send video, there are the biggest loss of quality. all of video components (colors) are sended trough same wire. RCA Connectors

so, that will not work. or hdmi or yuv+audio. or hdmi->dvi adapter to pc input.

I bought an ATV 2000 and a TV Dongle came with it. The ATV 2000 died and I got my money back but I still have a dead ATV 2000 and a working TV dongle which I run on my ATV 1000 clone. It appears to be a T119 and also worked on my PC after I downloaded the PC drivers.

The dongle will not work with ICS but works well with Gingerbread. I am using HiDTV 1.9.4. The sound sometimes takes a fairly long time to initiate though.

Hi stasik, I have found a solution for network connection, without samba.
We can have the same results, by installing of CifsManager and AstroFileManager (both of them are free on Play Store).
With CifsManager we mount our shared folder on PC: (for example:192.168.1.10/shareddocs)
then, with AstroFileManager we go to:/mnt/cifs/(our shared folder)
and we open our file, with the suggested app (MoviePlayer for a video).
In this way, we can manage any file or watch, quietly, any video from PC.
(Obviously the device must be rooted)

Black is actually coax digital audio on mine. I connect to my amplifier as it doesn't have HDMI.

Hello all,

I have at ATV1000 that came with Android 2.2 which I upgraded to 2.3 almost immediately, thanks to the people on this forum. Of course I lost all of the preinstalled apps but I thought I would just download new ones from Play. One app I have not been able to replace is the internet radio app. I think it may have been called Tunein. This app was great. It gave me access to lots of Australian and international radio stations. I can't see it in Play. All of the radio apps I have tried have very limited access to Australian radio stations and a lot of the international stations don't work either. Can anyone recommend a good radio app?

I have a couple of questions and a couple of suggestions.

To the people who have trouble with wifi, I found that when I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3 my wifi wouldn't work. I couldn't see my own access point but I could see my neighbours. Normally the SSID on my router is hidden but when I switched to broadcasting my SSID I found that my ATV1000 could see it and wifi worked normally. If I hid my SSID the wifi connection would fail. This is not normal, and didn't happen when I was using 2.2, but now I just broadcast my SSID and the wifi works normally.

To the people with networking issues, I don't know what samba is but I can tell you that when I use the app called network that was already installed with the 2.3 upgrade I can see shared folders on my home network and stream video from them without a problem.

Now for a couple of questions: Has anyone tried the update_Multilaser_20120420.zip update? Does anyone have anything to say for or against it? It gave me a bunch of apps that I had lost previously (although not the radio app that I want). Of course I lost all of the apps I had installed prior to this update. The startup logo has changed and the boot time seems to be significantly longer, which is a bit of a pain.

Lastly, can anyone give a good argument for upgrading to ICS? Is the boot time quicker? Are there any other advantages? Disadvantages? Does everyone who has upgraded have the issue with the pointer clicking in the wrong position? Anyone who doesn't?

Hi JetPack, you don't find Tunein, in Google Play Store, because with stock firmwares,
you have not a complete access to market.
You can resolve in various ways:
-You can install update20120111.zip, which contains tunein app
-You can install update20120111-gio.zip, which doesn't contain any optional
app but gives access to a more complete market (where you will find tunein)
-You can extract the app (using winrar or 7-zip) from update20120111.zip
and install using appinstaller.
Here is the link to the post, made by stasik, that gathers all previous firmware releases:

Samba and Network, pratically, are the same thing (samba.apk is the app,
Network is the external name given to the app).
Samba works perfectly with 2.3.4 gingerbread releases, but at this time, gives problems with 4.0.3 ICS
(we can resolve network issues, using apps such as cifsmanager and astrofile manager).
The update_Multilaser_20120420.zip is a branded version of our latest 2.3.4 release,
different boot logo and different optional apps...nothing more.
There are many reasons to upgrade to ICS...
The first is that, however, you can always come back, quietly, to gingerbread releases...
so, at least, only for testing, I think that you could try.
The second, more important, is that ICS has many more functionalities than Gingerbread
and initial bugs are typical of new releases.
