genie weather widget

I cane across the genie weather widget. Was wondering if anyone knows about it and if it is safe. If so, do I have to be rooted to install? Thanks

i use it (the transparent version) and love it. i'm not 100% sure if it needs root or not. i'm rooted so i just put it into my /system/app folder. you can always try installing it using a program like astro (available in the market).

You don't have to be rooted to install those deodexed apk files. There are a couple more 2.1 packaged apps out like this, the 2.1 gallery, and the 2.1 music player I think. I'm positive the gallery and the genie weather widget both don't need root, and are safe.

You might have to enable that setting to allow installing packages of unknown origin though. Should be under Settings > Applications

droid-life.com has them all

Just download it and click on the .apk file when it's finished downloading
