Help Get firmware back to original state

Hi guys,

I have a samsung galaxy s 2 4.0.4 XXLPW

I have rooted my phone and got the super user app and the CWM app too. I unrooted through the super user and that app disappeared but the CWM is still there. I cant access the CWM and whenever I download and try a super user app I get an error saying that the binary doesn't match (or something like that) either way it doesn't work. But i still get the yellow triangle whenever I boot the phone and its like my phone is in limbo between being rooted and not rooted.
I ideally want to root my phone again but when I tried rerooting it, doing the same process as before it wouldn't work. I restored the factory settings thinking that would reset the firmware but it didn't.
My camera/video doesn't work either, it will take videos and pics but when I get it up on the screen (to take the pic/video) it will just show a black screen but then the picture is taken, it will show it but wont show the video, only play the audio of the video.
Does anyone have any information or help for me on this?
I am reletively new to all this so any descriptive details or links would be great. I have seen a few places to manually flash my phone again, I don't know what this means nor would I know where to start.
Any info would be great, cheers.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums doldy101! :)

You're right... your phone is neither one thing or the other at the moment.

Lets look at your options...

1. Flash a stock, un-rooted, Samsung firmware to your phone by carefully reading and following the step-by-step instructions and video in #1.7 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide. You can, if you want, root it again by following the instructions in the next option.

2. Re-root your phone again by carefully reading and following the step-by-step instructions and videos in posts #1 and #2 of the Rooting Galaxy S2 - Dummies Guide

Both guides are designed for absolute beginners, so grab a drink and start reading. ;)

I have the korean version, shw 250s,
of galaxy s2. It was converted to
i9100 when i bought it second hand, a
year ago. It was running android
2.3.4 and recently i decided to update
it. I upgraded it to 4.1.2 and after
that it says 'not registered on
network' whenever i try to call or
message. I tried installing 4.0.1 but
the problem presists. The lock screen
is also not appearing and long
pressing the power button switches
the phone off.
I live in pakistan.
I have tried all the applications for sim unlock but none worked.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums helangel! :)

I can see immediately where your problem is I'm afraid. :(

The SHW-M250S Korean variant of the Galaxy S2 has different hardware and software to that of the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 and, "converting", it to run on the GT-i9100 firmware is a case rooting and then adapting the stock Samsung GT-i9100 firmware with various mods so that it will work I believe.

By flashing a straight stock GT-i9100 firmware to this phone you will have un-rooted it and destroyed the mods that enabled it to run.

In essence, by flashing the firmware, you have taken away the," conversion", and will either need to flash the stock Samsung firmware for the M250S or re-convert it again... or both!

Unfortunately, I have never had to do this but here are some links on how to convert the M250S to the GT-i9100...

Korean Galaxy SII M250S / M250K / M250L Users

Successfully convert SHW-M250S to I9100

Turn your SHW-M250S/K into a GT-I9100

There may be other links that you can Google.

ironass thanks a million for that. I knew the phone was inbetween being rooted and not but it didn't bother me too much and the only thing that was different was the camera not working.
Im in the middle of exams at the moment but as soon as I am finished I will be reading those articles and fixing my phone.
Thanks again :)
