Get on the Internet using computers's connection

Hello guys

I am a new bee to HTC hero, I bought it yesterday.

I think that there might be a way to make use of my computer's internet connection on my HTC HERO.

If there is such a method, please share it with me.

I am running windows 7 and ubuntu 9.10.

The thing is that currentrly I do not have a wifi connection and I do not want to waste my valuable internet allowance for first time setting up.

I believe it's possible to share a wired connection via WiFi with windows 7. I'd be more specific but I haven't got a wired connection atm so don't get that option.

Yeah. I tried this setting up a computer-to-computer network, but the Hero just cannot see it :S

Try reading this guide thread.

Basically, you need a software that makes your computer act as a wireless access point, such as Connectify, suggested in the linked thread. As of now, Android can not connect to ad-hoc networks.
