Root Get unrooted for warranty service!

I haven't been able to run the unrevoked s-on tool since I'm getting a radio version error.

I'll try the RUU and see what happens

edit: error 171: usb connection error
it's still connected of course, but it sure fails. I'l try running straight to the computer instead of through a hub

are you using the original cable or an aftermarket replacement? Try a different usb port also if direct doesn't work.

When you type in adb devices in the command prompt, does it come back with the serial number for your phone?

yes it does, but interesting enough after trying to run one of the RUU programs it appears to be slightly different.

right now it says: ht06chl13053

From what I can tell all is fine until it is trying to load into the bootloader. The screen shows the white HTC lettering and during that it loses connection and quits.

ADB will lose connection in bootloader. You need the .76 engineered bootloader to allow use of fastboot commands. Do you have the s-on tool on your sdcard? Does it fail to flash that or does it error before that?

its on the card. It fails to install because it says radio version mismatch. So I tried downgrading my radio, but I'm not sure the exact commands to do it. I downloaded the radio zip and its on my sd card ready to go.

I am on my phone currently. When i get to my pc i will link you to the pc36img file for the radio that came with the last 2.2 release. It will flash in hboot.

Download this file. Rename it PC36IMG.zip by removing the -3.70Radio from the name. Put it on the root of your sdcard and reboot to bootloader. When it scans and finds the file, tell it to update. When done, tell it to reboot and check your baseband....is should be 02.15.00.11.19 I believe. Then try and unroot using the steps in Unroot for Warranty Service.

can I tell it to update the file without the power button working? that's been my issue this whole time.

Yes. Once it scans and finds the file, volume up will tell it to update. When its done updating, volume up will reboot it.

well I tried and it didn't seem to work. I renamed the file and put it on sdcard. I then used adb to reboot to bootloader via command adb shell "reboot bootloader"

it reboots to the bootloader and just sits there. I tried the volume buttons, but those didn't seem to do anything. So it seemed sort of frozen.

That command takes you to the fastboot screen. I am looking for a way to get to the bootloader screen and then it will scan for the file. Can you boot to hboot from the phone via an app? Does your power button work at all?

Edit: I just looked back and it said you have hboot .76. Does it say ENG next to where it says S-OFF?

yes it says eng s-off

I'll try looking for an app to get me to the bootloader

Download the RUU for .97 and below from the OP. With the engineered bootloader, you don't need to turn s-on. When the RUU runs, it will replace the engineered bootloader with the stock one, replace the recovery, and replace the rom all with stock. You should be good to go after that. The RUU I posted there are run from the PC so no need to use the buttons on the phone.

ok here's where I'm at. I run the RUU and my phone sits on the white lettering HTC screen. eventually install times out.

as an experiment I unplugged the usb and that takes me to the bootloader screen. when plugged back in it goes back to white htc screen.

It seems computer is interferring with it getting to bootloader. So I'm trying a different computer to see what happens

If that doesn't work, try the RUU for 2.10. There may be something wrong with that RUU. Also, let me know what it says now on the hboot screen when it comes up

Can anybody help me out with using this method to unroot revolutionary s-off using this method using adb?

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/407098-you-can-now-unroot-revolutionary.html

My volume up button is broken and cant select yes to update the PC36IMG file..

Thanks!

Unfortunately the only way to unroot at this time is by using the volume buttons. Hboot requires a different set up to be able to use commands from the pc and if you have anything but the Hboot .76 then they do not work. If it is a hardware issue, I would just call your local Sprint store and tell them you have a rooted phone with a volume rocker problem and see if they have issue fixing a rooted phone. Most will not as it is a hardware problem.

Thanks for the reply,

Corp phone so have to go through their process. Rep said as long as phone is not physically damaged it should be ok... I imagine they reimage the phones in the remanufacturing process anyways....

That may be. You can try and just use the RUU run from the pc to get it back to stock. Unless they check hboot, they should not know its rooted. A volume rocker should be a simple repair and not a replacement unless the switch inside is damaged.

switch inside is completely broken off...

I flashed back to the stock ROM and will delete SU App. Still need to go back to stock RUU?
