Getting 1x speeds with 4g!!!

Hey guys i live in Orange county, CA. and in my town i am getting ridiculously slow speeds in 4g coverage. My speed varies from sometimes 8 kbps- 1.71mbps (max at night). I don't know if it is due to some problem in phone or just the sh**y coverage. Because i replaced my old esteem with a new esteem due to update problem couple of weeks back and the new phone never touched 2mbps in my area whereas the old esteem went up to 2.5 most of the time. But i get close to 2mbps in some other areas i travel. So can anybody tell that is it a phone problem or just the reception in my area suddenly turned bad??

prl on the phone is 3018 out of box, you can call *228 and option 5 to update prl, or you can manually load prl 3025 with qpst, very simple operation.

Same problem here in Atlanta. I live well within the coverage area tho close to the edge, i get 1.3-1.5 down and about the same upload. Soon as i leave my subdivision it shoots up to 3s and higher. Wish we had 3g to fall back on here instead of the dreadfully slow 1x.

i already updated the prl 3025 2 days after getting the phone and still it was the same thing.

sounds like a coverage issue, wish metro would really get to work on there tower more and stop worrying about making more money, cause once people's are not getting the service they pay for, they start losing money by losing customers.
