Root Getting a new Nook

I'm getting a Nook Color this weekend. Only $185 over at Overstock with Discount Code 207397. I need to know if I can use a 2gb card for the 3.2.0.1. I've seen only a 1gb image for this or can I make my own image using a 2gb card?

Nice discount. :D

My link at the top shows images all the way to 16 gb so you can create any size of bootable disk. Usually a recovery disk is a cheap one that doesn't get used much so most people don't devote a huge card to it.

This disk is usually used just for installing a rom or repairing an unbootable one.

You haven't said what you intend to do... root it? Install a new rom? Install a rom on the sd card leaving the stock rom intact?

'Certified pre-owned' seems to be the fine print on the NC from Overstock.com, but for $64 off regular price many folks would be OK with that.

Warranty is same as new. I plan on testing it first especially making sure the wifi is solid then rooting it. Might have to resize the data/media partitions. Then placing phiremod nook V6.3 on the emmc partition. Or have it on an SD card. Not sure yet. I was impressed by colchiro's guides so I wanted his opinion on what to do. Except with giving up the Dinc. No way I'm giving mine up until something much better comes along. Look forward to using it.

I have my recovery on a 2GB card. Works fine. Not sure if I had a special 2GB image, though.

The warranty of course is the key part of the equation.

I got my NC a week or so ago and have Phiremod on the emmc. I dug around a LOT trying to figure out how to leave the emmc stock and put Phiremod as dual boot on the SD card. I was never smart enough to put together all the necessary pieces. It seemed like I'd get really close, and then trip over something that didn't work on the 1.2 OS. However in my digging I did find more than one way to take the NC back to stock after rooting, so I finally said 'screw it' and rooted it - which is dead easy to do.

Phiremod is good, though at some point I'm sure I'll flash CM7 just to see what it's like.

Dinc here too, it's a fine little phone. :)

I found my Dinc to be too dinky. :D

The DX was announce right after I bought my Dinc so after 30 days I returned it and had to go back to my old phone for 2 weeks before the X went on sale. Glad I did. Bigger screen and better battery life were two things I noticed right away.

I can understand the appeal of the larger screen, but for me that makes the phone too big to comfortably carry in a pocket.
