Root Getting a replacement, questions about restoring.

So my headset jack is going wonky and I'd rather get it replaced now before I have some major issues and I'm out of warranty.

I've currently got Tickerguy's CM7 installed, as well as a few other tweaks, like the Thunderbird prop. I'm going to do a CWM recovery backup, as well as a Titanium Backup of my apps.

Then I'm going to follow this guide:

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...de-100-stock-motorola-triumph-newb-proof.html

to get back to stock. I'm assuming that by installing all three of the things in that guide, I can then do the built in system restore or whatever it's called without issue? They want me to do a system restore to my phone before they'll send me a replacement and apparently they can see when you perform them.

Also, I assume with all of that stock stuff installed, they will be unable to detect that I was ever rooted and on a custom ROM? Although I'm not sure if that really matters.

And finally, when I get my new phone, I should be able to:

1) Root

2) Install the CWM recovery.

3) Restore the CWM backup image of CM7 I'm about to take now

Will I have any issues with this? Are there any phone-specific things that might cause problems? Like does anything reference your phone's serial numbers or whatnot?

Thanks for the info, sorry if it's been answered before.

Make the backups and keep them for your new phone. I would restore the flashable stock ROM b_randon has (it's in the ATR guide) it will get everything back to stock, including the splash.img (iirc).

They can't see when you do a factory reset so I don't know why they told you that.

They won't know it was rooted, but I wouldn't lie to them if they ask (usually they don't).

You don't have to root the phone to put CWM on it. Your CM7 ROM is already rooted. The rest of the steps are right.

But you won't have any issues since it is the same model phone. It will work fine.

Awesome, you've been a huge help!

I thought you needed to root in order to install CMW recover, but I guess I was wrong.
