Root getting E: signature verification failure

Lurker
Any idea how to avoid "E: signature verification failure" when I try to recover ClockWorkMod/Backup/Root from the SD card in my Samsung Galaxy Centura?

Thanks for responding. I am in Android system recovery <3e>. I got there by starting the phone with volume up + power. I select "apply update from external storage". The next screen says "Choose a package to install: /sdcard". I select clockworkmod/backup/root/nandroid.md5. It starts installing, then aborts leaving the message "E: signature verification failed".

Ah, it looks like you're trying to install a Nandroid backup (well, the .md5 file anyways :p) via the stock recovery.

That won't work ;) [the stock recovery won't install anything but a properly signed .zip file from the manufacturer / carrier].

You can only restore a Nandroid backup from a custom recovery--or more specifically, a ClockworkMod custom recovery for your device--i.e., whatever version that was used to make said Nandroid backup.
