Root Getting Flash on an AutoNootered NC

Is it possible, and if it is, how do I do it? I Auto-Nootered my NOOK Color that was running on 1.1 and it is great, I just can't watch flash content on web pages. Fixing that one thing would make this device of awesomeness!
 
You have a couple choices.


  1. Get the 1.2 update, then wait for updated autonooter to be posted.
  2. Get the 1.2 update, then do manual update to get root.
  3. Try flashing the flash apk from this post. Probably should create a recovery backup in rom manager first tho.
  4. Install a rom based on CM7 like Phiremod 6.2.
 
I would go with option 4. Well actually that is what I did but I would do it again.

If you like rooted you will love having CM7, and it is just as easy, if not easier, to do than rooting was.
 
The only reason for sticking with stock rom....

  • Lazy
  • never use your nook
  • need to return it
  • Need electronic magazines
 
I think I'll just wait for AutoNooter to be updated for 1.2. I have limited tech skills, and I don't want to mess up my NOOK Color. AutoNooter is easy enough for even ME to use (Liberal Arts major here :) )
 
Rooted or not, Flash is impossible on 1.1 because Flash only works on Android 2.2+ and B&N 1.1 is Android 2.1.
 
How hard is the process to put Phiremod 6.2 onto a NOOK Color? When I say 'hard', I mean hard for a layperson, not hard for a techie person...

It's very easy.

You do need computer, uSD card reader, and the ability to follow directions. Takes about 30 minutes at most.
 
I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I'm just double checking. I have mag subscriptions from the BN store, if I do Phiremod then will I lose the subscriptions? Do you not have access to the store at all? I've been reading and reading and trying to figure out exactly what the difference is between Phiremod and rooting. Again I apologize for the noobness. :)
 
I've never had books or subscriptions from B&N (or anywhere else for that matter), but my understanding is you can install the B&N market app (or Kindle app) and get your purchased books, but magazines aren't available with anything other than the stock B&N rom.
 
Hi my name is Misha and I need a little help. I rooted my Nook the other day with CM7 and I love it,except flash wont play. Its not available to me in the marketplace, which I know means it doesn't run....there are a lot of apps like that actually, like Facebook and YouTube. I can only access them through a web browser and you tube will only play through the web browser on mobile setting. Please tell me how I can add flash. I still have the files I used for rooting on my laptop but erased them off of my 4gb SD card. Was that wrong? Please help!!
 
Oh and to answer the magazine question, I'm still able to access the magazines I had already bought. I'm not sure aboutnew subscriptions but i found my books, magazines & newspapers under the nook app after I rooted the NC....
 
You have to download Flash from Market.

What version of the software are you running? You need the latest version 1.2 to run flash.

If you only have one sdcard and use it in your NC, then you had to erase it or you'd keep booting into the sdcard.
 
I have version 1.2, Made sure of that. It will not let me access flash from the marketplace. And when I try to go directly to adobe, it redirects me to the non useable. Marketplace! !!
 
Yes I did. Can you please just tell me if there's a way to add flash from the zSD card? I CANNOT. access flash through the marketplace at all!!
