Root Getting Pics back on contacts after fresh rom install

This has happened to me before, but usually my pics for my contacts come back after a little bit. But after flashing MIUI I have noticed that my contact pics are not there, I did do the caulkins format all wipe before installing, I'm sure it's something easy but why arent my contact pics coming back?
I had the pics saved to "phone" I believe not the "google" contact so that the pics were higher quality. Thanks!

I wondering if the "phone" option for contacts is just a Sense thing, hence no option on the AOSP rom. On sense I could choose whether to save a contact as Phone or Google, on AOSP no such option, so maybe I'm just stuck with those low res pics for my contact widget....
