Help Getting really low FPS on my videos

I have a problem with my video camera; I'm constantly getting 5-6 frames per second on all my videos. (Using VLC to get those FPS numbers).

It doesn't matter if it's broad daylight or darker, the camera ISO is set to auto or 800, or what have you.

Also I'm constantly getting "stutters" in the picture, where the frame freezes for 0.5-1 second.

I've tried with standard video camera and the app "Qik".

My SD card is "Kingston 16 GB Class 4 MicroSD". Is that a bad card?

I'm rooted and running the newest Leedroid ROM.

I just made some videos with the resolution one step below 720p, and the stutter disappeared but I'm still only getting 5-6 FPS.

I played back a video i'd took a few months back and it stuttered, that was just watching on the desire. I've not noticed this before now, so will keep an eye on it. Was done at 720p.
