Help getting rid of screen notifications

it is not a part of "Moto Display", it is actually the screen after it where you have to press the power button.

see attached pic.

how do i get rid of these "notifications"? (text messages, e-mails, etc..)

they just suddenly appeared after the 5.1 update.

Don't kill the messenger.

If you use Pattern or Pin you can hide some or all of the notifications. Can't do it on Swipe. If you use None you never see any of the bilge.

i figured it out.

you can get rid of it on swipe:

settings - sound and notification - when device is locked.
