Root Getting Root in ADB?

So I used Gingerbreak 1.2, and got root on the phone, installed busybox, and used rootchecker to confirm root access was granted and busybox installed correctly. All is good

But when I open a shell using ADB and enter su, I get "Permission denied"

Any idea's? USB debugging is turned on

nevr mind, figured it out. You need to set the phone to stay awake when plugged in, start superuser on the phone, then do an su in ADB, and supruser will prompt to give it permissions, click yes, and you are in. Bloatware alreayd uninstalled :)

How'd you set it to stay awake when plugged in? Yes, I know how dumb this question is. Chalk it up to idiocy. I'm sorry.

Setting-Display-Screen timeout-Never

Don't do that, it will destroy your battery life

Settings -> Applicatoins -> Development -> Stay Awake.

This will let the screen go off normally but keep the screen on when it is plugged into a power source

I must be going crazy.

Everytime I try run the adb shell, I keep getting "error:device not found".

My phone is rooted and I do have the USB debugging checked.

I'm pointed to the correct directory at the command prompt. I definitely have andriod-sdk and jdk installed.

I've tried installing other USB drivers to see if it would help, but no luck.

:(

I've done this with my Optimus V plenty of times with no problems, so where am I going wrong?

What am I missing? Anybody got any clues?

Regards,

What OS are you trying this on? Try killing the server and starting it again.

Code:
adb kill-server

I tried

Code:
adb kill-server
adb usb
adb reset

No luck what so ever. I believe it has to do with either the USB driver and/or the other USB drivers from my Optimus V. So far I've deleted my Optimus V drivers, but I realize I have drivers from other phones still on my pc. I running Win 7 and Win XP on two separate machines and they both have the same problem, but they also have the same USB drivers installed.

I even gave it a try throught superoneclick and it just get hung up on the "waiting for device". Plus, I've unplugged and re-inserted my phone to the USB when this happened and still nothing.

I must have restarted my pc a millions times just to be sure.

I haven't given up.

Hurray!!! :) It's Fixed!!!

Apparently Windows is finicky about the drivers.

I used the instructions found at:

Triumph as a dev phone? - Page 2 - MOTODEV Discussion Boards

I had to use the Windows device manager and delete nearly every usb driver. Make sure you also follow the advice of "Capstan" to display the "unattached" devices.

Then I used the Motorola driver linked in the above discussion board and the Phone_F_USB driver on the phone. After installing the Motorola driver the ADB Interface was showing in the device manager, but the driver still was missing. Then I installed the Phone_F_USB driver and that had the missing component for the adb driver.

It really was a pain to get this working.

So far I've fixed it on my Win XP machine, now on to fixing the Win 7 machine.
