Getting S2 today, any tips/advice?

I really love Android phones. I had a HTC Incredible for 2 years at Verizon but destroyed it with a dumb bell in the gym. I found a great deal for the S2 which is a big improvement for only $9.99 with 2 year contract (AT&T). I'm expecting it sometime today to arrive! btw, it has 90 day warranty and is guaranteed to be "Like New." great deal for anyone looking..

I rooted my HTC Incredible for tethering so I have some experience messing around with those programs.

Just to make sure, is there any advice/tips you guys have for the S2? I don't want to run into any problems in the future.

I plan on rooting it (How to Root AT&T Galaxy S2! [SGH-I777] | Galaxy S2 Root) and installing the ICS 4.0 ROM ([ROM]<=TASK650's ICS'd OUT! V9=>[JKayMOD,BRAVIA ENGINE,ICS ANIMS,BLN,ECT...](12-20) - xda-developers). I need tethering.

Is that link the best to follow for rooting?
Are there any precautions I should take?

What are the best extended battery solutions?

Thanks!

Are there any special instructions for me if I have 2.6.4 ? I'm reading ppl having problems with that for rooting.

Do NOT get the over the air update to 2.3.6, leave it alone and just go with the 2.3.4 that comes with the unit. 2.3.6 has a flaw that eats batter when wifi is turned on, and it doesn't appear samsung or ATT care to fix it, so do some searching around here to learn more, first. 2.3.4 version is also easier to root.

Noted, thanks.

Is there a way to tether a rooted S2 without AT&T ever knowing? I read in another post that there is tracking info that we have to delete on our phones, can someone give me more details. I don't want to get charged or be banned from Market (I think I read about that too...pls clarify)

Thanks
