Is it possible to get to root from here? If so, is there a post describing the process?

yes the process is relatively simple, you have to sbf back to froyo, then root, then flash the rooted ota

all this is explained in the 2nd link in my signature, however if you want to test out roms, such as cm7, miui, omgb, omfgb, ssx, justice, liquid, then you want to stay on froyo and flash them that way. for more help post it, but in order to obtain root, you must sbf back to froyo
