Root Gingerblur vs. CM7 (some basic questions)

greenless

Well-Known Member
-How does CM7 handle corporate exchange? Will I need to use Touchdown again if I switch?

-Where can I find some screens of the AOSP apps for MMS, dialer, etc?

-Are all of the built-in functions of AOSP available in CM7? (wifi tether, SIP support, etc.)

If there's an existing thread that highlights all of this, please feel free to direct me that way.

Thanks!

Sorry you didnt get a reply, however i only have one answer for you that tethering does work. The regular dialer for CM7 is very basic but if you theme it you'll get a new look.

I dont use anything else you asked so hopefully someone will come along.

you got to understand sometimes it does take a while for people to respond, and occasionally we dont know the answer, so we research more, and sometimes get sidetracked.

but your asking if cm7 supports corporate exchange? i do think that is a moto blur function if im correct, and cm7 is pure aosp, so that means there is no moto blur so basically no corporate exchange from what i can gather

and you want to see screenshots of the aosp messaging and dialer?? you can look at just about any theme and see them. i dont understand why you want to see screenshots of them so i do apologize but that is odd :p

all of cm7 functions are built in and are supported, im not sure if wireless tether is even built into cm7 as im not running it anymore. but its just a simple wipe data and flashing of the rom to find out.

and your asking for a thread that has most of this info already have you seen this thread?
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/355229-rom-beta-cyanogenmod7-dx.html

that has just about all the info on cm7 you need. you can either read through the 28 page thread, or you can ask this question again in that thread.

most corporate installs are moving to active sync.
if that is the case at your company, you'll need to use touchdown (which isn't bad really)
it has nothing to do with CM7, any AOSP rom will have the same situation.

I tried another client (data sync, or data road, something like that, but didn't like it) touchdown was better and is working well for me

CM7 on my tablet supports Exchange.

Whether or not this implementation supports it yet will remain to be seen. This version is very rough with some stuff still broken. Camera support was just added. If you relay on your phone to work, you might want to wait. I don't have a land line and need my X to work, so I'll be waiting.
