It not longer states anything about gingerbread, just bug fixes.

I could be wrong, but I thought the changed it previously (I think it went from 2.3.4 to just 2.3).

Since that is the next possible build number (4.06.605.3 versus 4.06.605.2 previously), I'm guessing it's just a documentation issue and nothing else.

Either way, I already running the update as a rom. So I'm not bother by this in the slightest.

No mention of the "Low Memory" message? That should have been one of the first things to fix.

There are a few threads here and on XDA that address this. Basically, HTC made it so that when you move an app to the SD card, the accompanying lib files go with it. For some apps, this frees up a ton of space in /data/data. For many users, this should help alleviate the problem. The problem isn't gone, it's just that they raised the ceiling on it. You'll still eventually hit it.

From what I understand, some of the worst offenders that cause this issue are:
-HTC Sense FB contact sync
-HTC Mail
-Netflix

If you used all three of those extensively, you probably ran into this issue at some point.

More times that I wish.....glad they at attempted to deal with it in any way possible. Now if it would just make it to my phone....LOL.

We're not sure yet when the official OTA will hit, but the recent leak has this fix built in. You can run any number of ROMs that are based on it (including the one in my sig). There's also a rooted "OTA" for those who want it as-is.

As I've said before though, the leak is not the same as the eventual official OTA (different build numbers now as well). However, it's pretty close.

Or root it and fix a lot of problem. :D

I know...I know. I'm dangerous enough with my laptop that I have messed things up before. I could only imagine what kinda damage I would do if I attempted to root my phone. Just enjoying the ride with it till I can use my last "New Every Two" in April....unless there is something better out by then I think it's going to be Vigor time for me.

I could very easily get my head handed to me for this one but if you have access to a mac there is very little chance of screwing up. I know the windows root is easy too but mac there are no drivers, no extra anything - it's plug it and run it. Took me less than 20 minutes. (I work for a graphics company and we have macs and the no driver installation was the selling point for me)

Otherwise - I am with you - the Vigor is the first one to grab my attention - I'm up for my N.E.T. in February - hopefully root will be found on Vigor before then. Lol. (I am now quite spoiled by the ability to change what I'm working with)

If you look at the upgrade instructions page:

http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/incredible_instructions.pdf

It still shows 2.3.4. But the big question is.... When?

... Those meddling kids!
They only updated the "Benefits of the software update" file on 8/30.
The other "Software Update Instructions" file is dated 8/8.

With their track record, I suspect they overlooked updating the instructions.

Getting a "Titanic" feeling about this...

Hard to believe they removed the reference to Gingerbread, but they did. On the bright side, they did add a fix to the CityID app! (Unbelievable, but true! Aren't we all excited!?)

Maybe nothing's changed, so no need to update the file? Wishful thinking...

No Way! Hopefull the "fix" is being to nuke that steaming pile of....

?? for those of us who don't have facebook?? what is that^

wait - more than just my dad doesn't have facebook??? Wow! :p:D

And I don't know - I can't get to it at work - they block me. Although I did learn that by disconnecting the system cable and turning on my wifi tether I can get around it if I'm desperate to see something)

And isn't it Verizon that has the last say of when it's coming?

And tomorrow is September, so that means we'll get it tomorrow...right?
