I had a dream last night that it got delayed until Sep, 2012. May it be known that the 17 people who were still running the Inc were frickin ecstatic.

I intend to continue using my Inc as a PMP indefinitely. I'm using a T'bolt as my phone, but when I'm at home (with wifi on) I'd rather use the Inc for most things.

I look forward to the eventual OTA to Zucchini Bread. :p

You forgot the gargoyles!! Why does everyone forget the gargoyles??!!!

Kitty looks mad.

Since I'm rooted and running one of the GB roms that came out of the leak a few weeks back, I'm not chomping at the bit over this any longer. I will flash another rooted rom from the official release when it happens and then that's that. NE2 due 12/29 with an LTE rig in my future since 3G blows chunks where I work due to the university up the street.

Tanks for the lulz in this thread, you folks rock.

Gotta dash, there's a dingo at the door.

When I woke up this morning I had an on-screen note that a system update had been performed and got my permission to restart. Any info on what this update was?

And if I am running rooted with the original factory ROM, will those updates actually work?

My software version says 2.2, baseband 2.15.00.07.28, Kernel 2.6.32.17blahblahblah...

Woke up today to a message to update. Thought I was seeing things but it's here. Android version 2.3.4 baseband version 2.15.10.07.07 build number 4.06.605.3.

It must not have taken me very long to find ya'll, then. I kept up with nearly that whole thread. Seems like just yesterday. *tear*
*sniff* I know what you mean.... Those were the days. The poll the froyo thread had attached to it if i remember correctly had 2,000 different users vote.... *sniff*

Pics? Doesn't GB give phones ability to screenshot?
Don'tbe teasing... the dingos don't like to be teased. In other words, pics or it didn't happen.
:D

Nope, don't expect to see/hear anything till at least tuesday (after the holiday)

Which really goes against everything we have learned about VZW so far.....it would be just like them to push the update today, then be closed or really short staffed for all the problems that occur. Although they could just change their voice mail to say:

Welcome to Verizon Wireless. We are currently closed due to the holiday. In the event you are calling because you are having issues with your phone (hears snickering in the background) and the recent update that was sent, please do a factory reset. It is the only thing we know how to tell you to do. If that doesn't work please rant and rave but refrain from calling until Tuesday. Thank you for choosing Verizon. Enjoy your day.

actual screen capture requires root

if you are rooted (which is the only wat anyone has GB right now that we know of) it shou7ld be easy

if not then you would have to take a pic of phone from different camera thhen post the pic

Seriously,

Will root prevent me from getting the 2.3 Gingerbread update? Because I just called Verizon and the lady told me the Gingerbread update came out August 30. But when I told her my baseband version she said I had the older one, and wasn't sure what the update was that I received overnight.

Thanks

It should. Most ROM's block the notification from what I've read.

There is a way other than root to obtain screenshots. Requires the android SDK.

To take a screen shot:

-Download the SDK from here: Android SDK | Android Developers and
-Once SDK is downloaded, run "SDKSetup.exe" and install platform 2.1 and
the drivers if necessary. If you've already downloaded HTC Sync, you
should have the drivers. If not, go here: HTC Mobile Phone Support - DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC (Verizon) - Downloads
-Enable USB debugging on your phone:
menu>settings>applications>development>check USB debugging
-After you have downloaded the SDK and HTC Sync, navigate to the tools folder of the SDK, right-click on the "ddms.bat" file and send to desktop as a shortcut. When you click on it from the desktop, the debug monitor will open.
-In the new window that opens you should see your device listed. Select it
and then click device>screen capture.

You now have a pic of your screen.

He is running stock. So no, root will not block the update. If you update you will lose root.

I thought he meant he was rooted and didn't know if the update would still come through.

He is rooted. Root by itself will not block the update. It will come. You are correct that if someone is running a rom they will not be prompted.

Hi, My name is Ann, and I'm addicted to this thread.

I'm also jealous of my husband who got his Gingerbread update this morning on his Motorola Droid 2. The jealously is irrational, however, since his phone likes to reboot itself whenever it feels like and the battery drains in minutes, while my Incredible is... well, incredible. :) Even so, I'm jealous. Therefore, I recognize that I have a problem.

Thanks for your help. I will take a pic when I get home and post then.

Hate to be a spoilsport here... you do have an Incredible... not an Inc 2, right? The Inc 2 update was announced to be rolling out - no definite announcement for the Inc yet.

(The dingos are right to be skeptical...)

inc 2 rollout has been over a while though. plus he did have the incredible at one point though. He was part of the epic 'date ordered/date received' thread where me, baby and a few others logged our few hundred posts:):)
