Ooooo. Good call, thanks for catching my miss. Me, I'm sticking with MIUI. No sense in unrooting to stock just to do it again. The only time I'll be unrooting and going back to stock will be when I get a new phone.

I'm planning on keeping cm7 till a rom comes out. Then nandroid backup, and take the update for a spin. And the, I assume, back to cm7.

Where will we find the ROM of the update coming out and how will we know when that will be done. I have CM7, but was debating on going back to stock to be sure I get the update, then just rooting my phone again. Kind of new to all the flashing, but if somebody does create a ROM of the update in 1-2 days.. I'll wait, just need to know where to look for it to be available...

OK, I've lost track. The official update is build number 4.06.605.2. What was the leaked build version number from a few months back?

If your rooted, I'd suggest just waiting for some kindly dev to put out a rooted version you can flash. It will probably be out 24-48 hours after the update hits.

Assuming some kindly developer does put out the rooted version in a few days, it's important that if we receive OTA notification in the meantime, that we DO NOT accept it, correct?

Correct.

Depending on exactly how you rooted, and if your running a rom, either you shouldn't get the OTA at all or it should fail to install (most root methods block updates). But to be 100% safe, reject the update.

Perfect.....this little slice of Gingerbread will tide me nicely over till my last "New Every 2" in the spring/summer of 2012. Then it's all Vigor for me. I've never actually had my next phone planned so early. Typically it was a major decision when getting it. Heck...it took me almost 2 weeks to decide between the Incredible I have and the Droid X. I'm so glad I went with the Incredible...and by the looks of the leaked specs for the Vigor that thing is going to be a powerhouse. So untill then...I'll finally be enjoying my little slice of Gingerbread.

I've got to imagine by the time spring/summer 2012 rolls around you'll be getting something other than a Vigor.

Any idea of whether or not this will have a full bluetooth stack. I rooted specifically to run Bluetooth Fix Repair which allowed me to connect to my car's bluetooth. If I am going to lose the ability to connect to my bluetooth, I would rather just pass and wait for a custom rom.

Don't tell me that...I don't want to have to take 2 weeks again to decide on my next phone...LOL. But you probably are correct. At this point the Vigor looks to be the best upcoming phone for me. I have had pretty good luck with my Incredible so I'll probably stick with HTC. And I refuse to jump to the Iphone.....I don't care if everyone else has one...LOL.

Does anyone know or expect if we will still be able to use the wifi hotspot work-around with this new update or if verizon is going to somehow close that loophole?

Hello this is Evan from Verizon NRB,

I think everyone here now owes me an apology as you can now see that I have been providing accurate information to the best of my ability.

Thank you,
Evan

You wouldn't happen to have that build date we asked for?
Are we going to have to wait for the completely unrelated strike to finish, or were you wildly wrong when you blamed that for the delay? Happen to know if they updated the bluetooth stack?

The strike was indeed the main reason the update was delayed a week. To address the xoom update, the number of Verizon xooms on the network is almost irrelevant compared to the number of Incredible units currently active. The xoom update was not even mentioned to be canceled last week. The unit did not sell well.

Not to be on topic, but did anyone see mention of what Sense version this will roll out with? I haven't, but it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that I'm blind as a bat with cataracts.

no. besides there's a dedicated search button (the magnifying glass button). all your homescreens should remain the same as you have them on 2.2. Android homescreens are customizable. you know, the way we like it.

I wasn't sure. I figured given the phone is more than capable of running 3.0 that maybe HTC would bundle it before passing off to Verizon but oh well. I just hope Nils decides its worth his time to continue developing Gingersense.
