So question here, when I upgrade to 2.3, will it solve all the blasted Low Memory errors?? Do i need to back everything up first? It won't wipe the phone will it??

the consensus seems to be the it will help. the update does move to SDcard different which improves the space available.

note: from what I understand to gain any "benefit" from it you need to move anything on your SDcard back to "phone" then move it back to "SDcard"

Hello again. I've asked this before, but I think the answers posted may not have fully understood my question. I have a DINC, but am not a Verizon customer. I use a prepaid service from another vendor. I have not received an update notification and assume that I will not get one. Is this correct? Where can I download an update file? My wife is a Verizon customer and has gotten the OTA file. Can I just copy her file (name?) to my phone (where should I put it?) and then do a manual update? Thanks for help with this.

I wonder if I'll get the OTA before February 2nd, when my two years on this contract are up and I'll be taking a close look at iPhone V...?

Depends, it your "just" rooted and not running a custom rom there is a "ota" over on XDA that will update you without loosing root.
Correct....have root with stock rom and updated with XDA update, works flawlessly, just load the zip file on SD card, backup apps/data with titanium and do a wipe/ flash with Rom Manager with new zip file right from your phone....also used XDA zip files to get rid of the Droid nag sound & GPS nag on start up, both also worked flawlessly.....2.3.4 does seem to be a little zippier and no difference in my battery life...2.2 was ok and probably would not have upgraded but had to get rid of the VZ update system nag...root I need as I use wireless tether a lot with my laptop...and of course titanium is a must IMO...

Interesting.... I didn't know this...

While i haven't confirmed personally the theory is logical / plausible (ymmv).

Basically, GB helps the problem by moving additional data to the SDcard out of "data/data" (I think is the directory). So it makes sense that unless you "move" that app after you have GB it won't grab the extra data freeing up space.

short answer, probably no, (without knowing specifics its hard to give a 100% answer) I'm not aware of any networks except VZW you can run the Dinc on with having a custom ROM (cricket for example, from my understanding).

There is a update file on XDA that will update a Dinc. manually but I'd be VERY concerned of trying it without knowing your exact situation.

I.E.
1. Was this Dinc originally on VZW?
2. if so what steps did you take to convert it to another carrier?
3. What carrier are you using?

your answers will probably lead to more questions...

Thanks, Crash. To answer your questions:
1. I bought the phone used and I believe it was on Verizon.
2 and 3. I had to do nothing to convert it. I use PagePlus for minutes (phone only)and Verizon is actually the carrier, although I'm not a Verizon customer (no contract, etc.).

I downloaded the OTA this morning from Android Central. It was super easy. The phone is running great.

After playing around for a while I decided to charge the DINC. When the LED turned green I unplugged, waited 30-40 seconds (as per my usual), and plugged it back in assuming it would charge for a few more minutes. To my surprise, the light came back as green immediately. I tried it a few more times, with longer unplug intervals. Same thing.

Wondering if the GB update fixed the problem, and now allows the battery to fully charge.

Anyone else experience this?

I called VZW about a different issue today but asked them when I should see the update. He said it could take 6-8 weeks. I laughed and said that if it takes 8 weeks I'll drop VZW. He said that they have no control, it's up to HTC and Google. I told him VZW has LOTS of control. They need to force HTC to be faster.

there is a post on the verizon dinc forum that someone just got the dreaded message right after installing, it sounded like he/she never had it before....

I hate that stupid message

no ginger love her in NY:mad:

My phone is rooted and running stock ROM. What are my options for keeping root? Should I install the OTA then root again? Or should I upgrade manually by downloading the 2.3 firmware? What is the easiest solution?

Technically, it could take 4+ weeks but that is highly unlikely. I will try and post the date trick instructions sometime later (currently letting pain pills and sedation wear off)

Folks. Tons of people have not got it yet . Just relax.

Download the OTA. I did it earlier and I had zero problems. I moved all my apps off the SD card before hand and they are all showing up.

Ok, I don't know how much help I'm going to be but to give it a shot...

How did you "activate" the phone on PagePlus? ( I checked the site but its pretty bare). did you go to thier store? how did they program it? did you port a number or did they give you one?

to be honest I really don't know enough to give you a good answer. My Guesses would be:
you won't get the update because you ESN isn't "really" on VZW
you "may" be able to use the XDA update OTA.

Your "safest" solution is probably to just ask PagePlus.

I am trying to figure out if I flashed the correct Radio. My Radio is
2.15.10.07.07

That isn't the same as what your showing... Anybody know what the version number of the radio is from the OTA?
Mine shows the same as yours. I also want to know if there is a file that doesn't have Sprint components?

Yours shows the same as mine and you received the OTA? Or did you flash a ROM and Radio. Because I flashed a ROM at XDA and flashed the Radio seperate, but it was suppose to be the radio from the OTA.

Where can I find that file for rooted users running stock rom. Thanks.
