Uh, I disagree.

I am only using my iPad - not downloading torrents on my laptop while tethering. I don't use it as a home broadband replacement either like some. I am not sucking off the system, oh and subsidized? Please! I already paid $200 up front, how much more do you think the phone is worth? I have already paid in $2,250 since having the phone and will continue to pay an additional $750 before the contract is over with - making the total cost of the "subsidy + service = $3,200.

How much is the phone really worth? How do you think Verizon makes all their money?

Will keep this short since this is not the place to debate tethering. The fact that you disagree means nothing to the facts. You signed a contract, you have to abide by what big red says, no matter how wrong you think it is. It IS against you TOS, like it or not...

Moving on:)
Still want GB, though it would only be a moral victory to get it since will be getting new phone when vigor (or whatever it will be called) comes out

Oh yes Me too. I am priming myself up for the Prime. Hopefully it will be Vanilla android - whatever flavor.

Can't wait.

Not a big Samsung fan either. But may hold out and see unless the Vigor turns out to be even better than reported now. The specs on that Moto Droid RAZR down the road sounds interesting too.

I almost cried when I read this - personally I had nothing good to say about the RAZR and then they tried to give me the Krazr and that was worse. My daughter will be getting a Samsung (cause it was free) and I don't mind it when I've been trying to learn it and lock it down. But the Vigor makes me purr. :D

Like :D

Yes the RAZR was horrible - and motorola - attempting to cash in on a nostalgic name - is not a good idea. Yes some people will be nostalgic, but others will probably say "Oh you're the company that made that awful crap tastic phone?"

I hope they don't use RAZR I did not care for mine or the LG Dare after it. I like the name Spyder though. We shall see I guess.

Assuming it wasn't rooted before, no. You can't root it.

And here is the FIX for the problem http://androidforums.com/incredible...essages-send-after-froyo-2-3-2-34-update.html.

Thanks for that, I finally found this fix and got it installed, seemed like it took awhile before messages finally came through.

Shame that Verizon couldn't point us to this prior, did a hard reset via their "try this" method....

EDIT: On a positive note of this GB experience, I rooted my phone in the process of trying to fix my GFs, LOVE the root (CyanogenMod). GF is TICKED because she loves the CyanogenMod rom and she doesn't get when I can't root hers.

I confirm it too! I can send texts but cannot receive them! So I did a factory reset and am now using the stock update and the low on space (annoying as ever) error went away but I still cant receive texts. So I have to resort to Google voice which can't send or receive MMS (annoying)

The low on space thing has been a thorn in my side since I got this thing.

I have taken a screenshot of this ridiculous error here

See post 3205, it fixed the same issue my GF had.

Down girl! :p
So why is this thread titled "gone with the wind" has the update been pulled for sure?
I've been playing with the title again... sorry, i was bored:o
Fact is, it's my opinion that it DEFINITELY has been pulled (for now).
Will probably need a new poll to... never thought it would expire before we even know what is up.... where's [insert insiders name] when you need them:rolleyes:
Just to bring this back on topic.... No gb here yet...

:D
None here either......

I installed that patch from htc that was linked to above, and one big thing it did was move the "Move to SD" apps from the mnt/emmc/.android_secure directory to /mnt/secure/asec. (In Froyo, they used to reside on the sdcard in /.android_secure. Can anybody else verify this? My /emmc/.android_secure directory is empty now, but after flashing WildStang's Rom, it was full of the "Move to SD" apps!!!!

Guess I'm just sol for now. Got the 2.3.4 update, using handcent seem to have no probs with mms. Still missing apps even after the suggested fix.
Though I wonder if the missing apps can be tying up needed memory somehow , in turn adding to the low memory notification.
Got the low mem off , for now, by deleting internet cache.
Now I'm waiting for GB 2.3.4 fix and the htc security fix if dinc is affected, crapola!

Think Prime or razar/spyder will be my next phone.

Wife and I still waiting patiently. I'm at the point where I could care less. I got a new 1900 battery to replace my 8-10 month old 1800 and I'm back where I need to be. (and yes it fits nice and snug with the back and case). With this new security flaw popping up it will only push the update back. My guess, early November. I will start my new phone hunt around Feb. Until then I'm fine on 2.2.

I think we can safely say now Verizon has given up on this one. So the hold outs who want GB should just root. Or you can be like me and focus on the next phone. Vigor is making me drool. lol

Do you mean "they pulled this particular release of Gingerbread, but will work on releasing a fixed version" or do you mean "VERIZON HATES US AND COMPLETELY CHOPPED UP THE THE UPDATE, FED IT TO THE DOG, THEN PICKED UP THE POOP AND SET IT ON FIRE. THEY WILL NEVER GIVE US THE UPDATE! WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

If you mean the first one, yes. We will all agree with that. If you mean the later, what are you basing that on? Yes, they haven't released a fixed update yet. Getting an update pushed through 2 different corporate bureaucracies takes time, and I'm guessing with 2 pulled updates, they will probably take their sweet time testing. And they probably won't tell us a damn thing before it's ready to roll. That's unfortunate, but that's Verizon's MO for these things.

Between not having received the GB update, and having to deal with the Incredible's very, very annoying overheating / reboot issue, I'm about done with this phone.

I think Verizon fed GB to the Gremlins and Ghouls.

I guess I am lucky. In the 15+ months of having the Dink I have not had any issues. Still love it.

The Vigor really has my attention but tempted to wait on the first power house HTC with ICS. I guess it depends on how patient I am once the Vigor come available.

Yep, I did root last week. I'm also interested in the Vigor and the Prime.
