Gingerbread 2.3 was here, then gone, now it's back

As an already-reported disgruntled receiver of the failed 2.3.4 update, I was looking to change phones. While I was interested in the iPhone 5, based on the then circulating rumors, I am not interested in the 4.1. I was happy with android until this update. So, I wanted to get the group's feedback on the Droid Bionic or the Thuderbolt (although I know that's getting old). Basically, I want 4G, dual core (if possible), and not a fan of Samsung.

You can follow this to downgrade to 2.2, and if you want to root.

Define "soon". It does look like it'll be on Verizon, but that won't happen until November, and who knows how long this promo will last (or before it gets squashed). That happens, I'll just stick with the Inc until July...

"Soon" could be Nov. 10. That's about 3 weeks away.

Yes, that is the hope. (haven't tried it)

Just do it! I was scared to death to root, and try this, but it worked great! I am now on Nils Business Gingersense, and loving it!

I am rooted and have been for a couple months now so I already know about 2.3.4 but I agree - it's piddly compared to the fun in ICS.

Yea after getting a look at ICS I no longer care about GB at all. ICS looks awesome!

No, we won't. Well, not as an official update. We almost certainly will see it as a rom.

It's frustrating waiting for GB when everyone else is already talking ICS. By the time my DInc gets GB I'll be able to upgrade to a phone pre-loaded with Ice Cream Sandwich.

Yeah. If I ate nothing but Ice Cream Sandwiches, I think I'd gain a couple hundred pounds before OTA GB showed up.

Or at least parts of it. I know our phones are little powerhouses but I think at some point the updates will be too much for them to handle in full. Just my opinion !
