Root Gingerbread Camera Settings Bug

Just noticed what I'd consider a fairly major bug with the Gingerbread "OTA/Leak".

After a reboot, my camera settings revert back to Widescreen mode picture size.

That's a bit of a pain having to switch it back to the format I want it each reboot.

I didn't check to see if other settings revert too.

Anyone else seeing the same?

Yes, I see the same thing.

Don't use my camera much, so it's fine with me, but I can see that it'd be frustrating.

FYI, it happens whenever the camera app actually closes, not just when it reboots. I just did some testing.

If you go into settings > apps and force close the camera app, it'll reset the settings. That means if you back out of the camera and use your phone such that Android eventually kills your camera app, you'll lose the settings as well.

That stinks. how does something like that get missed?

Thats a pretty huge bug.

Maybe someone will come up with a fix

Is there anything such as an alternative camera app which would rely on it's own resolution settings?

Not really looking for something that does all funky stuff with pictures, just am alternative camera interface so that I can get around this bug.

I'm having an issue where each time the camera actually closes, the resolution problem pops up, but also the first picture has EXTREME shutter lag. Like a solid 1-2 seconds. Every picture after the first is fine. It's really obnoxious. I might try reformatting to see what happens.

This has been a problem for me with every version of GB so far. The first pic has HORRIBLE shutter lag. The led goes out way before the pic is taken. After that, everything is great.

this has been a problem with me since i got the DX on launch day. 1st pic is trash, 2nd is good. It doesn't do it all the time. but at least 50% of the time.

We had the same issue with BlackBerry leaks until the official OTAs came out. The camera didn't work at all on one of them, seems to be a pattern that may be to keep people from running unfinished operating systems. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but it sure looks like it could be something intentional.
