Gingerbread fixes GPS

I never had faith in my GPS part to use a tracker app- as I would lose signal in car at times, and it was always slow to find signal.

I loaded GB last week on my phone. Tuesday nite I fired up GPS while waiting for another runner- and it found signal almost within 15 sec(WHOA!!!). I then decided to load IMapMyRun for kicks- not really expecting any results. Hit the record button, put phone in my jacket pocket with headband- and figured it would just lose signal.

The other person had a Garmin GPS watch so we could check what we were doing. according to Garmin- we ran 5.26 miles, and imapine my surprise when I pulled out phone and had to hit stop!!! Said we ran 5.31 miles. I believe this- as my own Garmin watch typically reads a bit higher than the one used Tuesday.

I have not actually zoomed in on the map to see how it looks compared to what we ran, but this is at least a good sign!!!

Just updated to GB and applied the root on this link:

Interesting thing is that GPS works great now. Worth upgrading and Wifi tethering works too. I did a factory reset prior to upgrading just to clear out everything. But, I don't think that is necessary for most people. No lag on the phone now and the intermittent dropping of BT in the car whild playing music is gone.

Well I'm happy for ya'll! My GPS has never worked, and after the update to GB, still doesn't. However, I didn't do a factory reset before moving from 2.2 -> 2.3 nor did I reset when going from 2.1 -> 2.2 way back last year. Perhaps I will try a reset and see if that makes a difference. Just my 2 cents :)
